Story
Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove’s mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul.

Loved narrator! Love bed the story. I enjoy watching someone’s heart and mind softened by persistent love! It is encouraging. The movie brought the story to life, too!

In the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump and many around him, including certain other elected Republican officials, intentionally breached their oath to the Constitution: they ignored the rulings of dozens of courts, plotted to overturn a lawful election, and provoked a violent attack on our Capitol.

It’s black and white, fellow Americans! There is no question in my mind as to what happened on January 6th after listening to this book. We know who provoked it and that it could have been prevented. An incredible devotion to providing facts in this day of so many lies and fake news - thank you Congresswoman Cheney! Well done!

Story
Is it possible to disagree politically and love unconditionally? The reaction of evangelicals to political and cultural shifts in recent years revealed what they value most. Lurking beneath our Bible-laced rhetoric, faith claims, books, and sermons is a relentless drive to WIN! But the church is not here to win. By every human measure, our Savior lost. On purpose. With a purpose. And we are his body. We are not in it to win anything. We are in it for something else entirely. That something else is what this book is about.

I was not sure about this purchase, however…

I am a moderate, slightly liberal believer in a deep spiritual connection to my higher power more than a religious devotee. I have watched ‘Christian’s’ like my parents spew racist, bigoted, hate toward anyone who is ‘different’ - in appearance, beliefs, political parties, etc. I have watched in horror as my usually kind and loving parents, in stages of declining mental health, have begun vocalizing the radicalization they have internalized after watching the news and prophets they listen to turn one by one against our government, liberal Americans, vaccinated vs unvaccinated family, and even their own caregivers.
I read an article about you, Pastor Stanley, and your message and my jaw dropped open. I can hear you!! I don’t have that immediate desire to close my ears and turn away. I know you would not agree with my lifestyle, or my beliefs, but I feel that you are a TRUE seeker, and very courageous re: the risks you are taking by speaking out! I can hear your message and I agree 100% that we need to stick to our primary purpose and not stray from God’s/Jesus’ message - love one another as you want to be loved. Seek to understand rather than be understood; to love than be loved. You are a true channel of God for the congregants who stick with you. What price are people willing to pay to be ‘right’? To ‘win’? Crazy high! Soul-killing high! It’s not worth it - to be ‘right’, but so angry and hateful that you cannot possibly believe that God/Jesus would sanction this behavior. Self-righteous anger is very enjoyable for immature people.
Thank you, Pastor Stanley. You have reached me and given me hope that there may be more people like you that can keep your message unpolluted by these pressures to take sides. Thank you so much!! 🙌💕🙂❤️

I appreciate the details the author shared relative to how a person is vetted before becoming an agent. I admire the dedication to transparency. I kept having the feeling that I would be very proud to have been chosen to work for the FBI. Well done!
