No More Sequels, No More Sequels, No More Sequels!

Fossil 1 was ok, but I needed to put this out of its misery very early in the listen. I didn't. It is a bit preachy and contrives to offer an alternative human development explanation. All of the details supplied to promote this alternative explanation take away from the plot. I kept falling asleep and had to keep searching for the chapter where I left off.

The first book in the series was ok, but this was about as interesting as hearing someone read a phone book.

This boxed set contains 3 complete science-fiction novels. This is science-fiction at its best - future engineering, intrigue, first contact. It’s a space opera like none you’ve experienced before. The audiobooks will keep you listening late into the night, and you won't be able to stop....

Mr Rodgers does SciFi
Reviewed: 06-25-21
When I started the series it was deeply disturbing to me that the narrator sounded just like Mr Rodgers. The content was interesting so I pressed on. Later I was able to ignore the Mr Rodgers voice. It reads/listens like someone’s diary. Parts were dry but the technical bits were truthful enough to hook me. Definitely a techie that wrote this because the names of the space ships have no pizazz. Who names a space ship cheroot?😎

Story
Tanaka Institute, Monterey, CA: Angel, the recaptured 76-foot, 100,000-pound Megalodon, has birthed a litter of pups - five females - far too numerous and aggressive to keep in one pen. One solution: a Dubai royal prince is building the largest aquarium in the world and seeks to purchase two of the "runts". The deal hinges on hiring Jonas Taylor's 21-year-old son, David, to be their trainer. Jonas reluctantly agrees, and David is off to Dubai for the summer of his life.

You may learn something
Reviewed: 01-27-21
The book opens with an educational section. Just when you start to question whether you are listening to a documentary or a story; the story begins. The plot is detailed and keeps your interest. The only issue I had was that it leaves you hanging at the end.

Story
Civil war looms in the Bobiverse in this brand-new, epic-length adventure by Audible number one best seller Dennis E. Taylor. More than a hundred years ago, Bender set out for the stars and was never heard from again. There has been no trace of him despite numerous searches by his clone-mates. Now Bob is determined to organize an expedition to learn Bender’s fate - whatever the cost. But nothing is ever simple in the Bobiverse. Bob’s descendants are out to the 24th generation now, and replicative drift has produced individuals who can barely be considered Bobs anymore.

Great Premise, but out of fresh ideas
Reviewed: 10-15-20
When I heard the first book, I was captivated. After the second book I could not wait for the third. But even Ray Porter could not make this forth book interesting. Earlier books were high tech, full of plausible science. Now the science is secondary to the plot of someone on walkabout. To add to the disappointment, it turns out the journey was completely pointless.

It was supposed to be just another mission. But when the dig goes silent, an elite team of battle-hardened military contractors is brought in led by former Marine Max Ahlgren. Most of the book is about a group mercenary buddies. But there is more.... the author throws in alien tech without explanation. But there is more.....and it happens in Alaska and the US military knows nothing about it. Looks like the author was throwing things against the wall hoping something will stick.

Story
The year is 2380. The Intersolar Commonwealth, a sphere of stars some 400 light-years in diameter, contains more than 600 worlds, interconnected by a web of transport "tunnels" known as wormholes. At the farthest edge of the Commonwealth, astronomer Dudley Bose observes the impossible: Over 1,000 light-years away, a star...vanishes. It does not go supernova. It does not collapse into a black hole. It simply disappears.
