Story
Old soldiers never die...except inside, when they lack a reason to live. Old soldier Wes Stauer is dying inside, from sheer lack of purpose. And then comes the knock on the door: ''Our leader's son and heir has been kidnapped. We don't know where he is. We need you to get him back for us. The people who have him are numerous, warlike, and well-armed. But money is no object.'' And then old soldiers - sailors and airmen, too - stop fading away and come back into sharp focus.

lead up was a bit long but it was necessary to lay out the plot. I enjoy everything that Col Kratman writes. I believe that I have listed to all of them. The fact that he knows exactly how to do much of what he writes about lends a feeling of authenticity to his stories. I recommend you look into what he has written with John Ringo. start with the Poslern series and go on to the other stories. it is well worth the time and money to get into them.

After more than a year without the rule of law, are the people ready to return to it?

Story
The Aftermath of a stunning victory—especially an unexpected, complete, and final victory—should be high-fives all around, listening to politicians give boring congratulatory speeches, and a well-deserved rest for the Merry Band of Pirates. Yes, the galaxy is still a freakin' mess, but that is nothing new, and for a change, that can be someone else's problem. Until, you know, something really bad happens, and only the Pirates can deal with the problem... Or not.

I'm truly happy to hear that another saga is starting in the Skippy verse. This storyline is great. I enjoy the relationship between Joe and Skippy. I recommend this book for anyone who enjoys humor with their sci-fi.

Story
War is brutal. Colonel Wes Stauer gets it. He ought to. He was once one of war's most brutal practitioners - not to mention one of its most effective and least bloody. Brutal yes; stupid no. Now, not only must Stauer command his crack outfit of former comrades and pull off yet another miracle mission, he must also harness and direct the brute within himself - a beast he will need in order to destroy an intelligent enemy who is as implacable as Stauer himself. Okay, almost as implacable.

a very detailed and amazing story
Reviewed: 10-04-23
Col Kratman presents us with an in-depth storyline. Although I believe that the casualty rate would have been higher there are enough to make it seem somewhat realistic. The tactical situations are very detailed. I read everything that he has written. I look forward to hearing more stories from him. If you are reading this review and debating whether to buy it then I have to make this point. If you're a left wing socialist type don't. unless you are open minded, but how many left wing socialist types are open minded.

Story
Then: First Lieutenant Sean Elliott and nine other mixed-service US soldiers on a convoy in Afghanistan suddenly found themselves and their MRAP vehicle thrown back to Earth’s Paleolithic Age. And they were not alone. Displaced Romans, Neolithic Europeans, and more showed up as well. Some would be allies. Some became deadly foes. Now: Scientists from an almost unimaginably far future need the survivors’ advice and support to reconnoiter and ultimately recover other groups displaced in time.

Williamson is a great author I have read a lot of his books. I have not been disappointed even once. I have been waiting on this one for too long. it is an amazing twist on time travel. I recommend reading the first book there is a lot of background that although not necessaries to understanding this story line but will improve the experience.

Story
Depik. The race of catlike assassins is feared galaxy-wide. Few living people have seen them, as the sight of one is usually the last thing its victim sees. When Reow is implicated in killing the Depik governor, though, her clan is declared anathema. Her four offspring are placed under interdict - they are to be killed on sight - and Del, Flame, Blade, and Death must flee with their molly, Susa. With Reow dead and Hunters tracking them across the galaxy, will they live long enough to find the real killer, or will they find themselves assassinated by their own kind?

I really enjoyed the narrator. she brought the characters to life. the only thing that bothers me at all was the way it jumped from storyline to storyline. it made it a bit confusing, but it didn't take away from the story. I recommend it to anyone who likes cool aliens.

Story
The galaxy is doomed. Monkeys may be clever and too stubborn to give up, but Skippy The Idiot Who Got Played knows the harsh truth: this is a fight he can’t win. The odds are not only stacked against him, he was designed not to win this fight. Maybe he can salvage some faint memory of the civilizations that inhabit the galaxy, but those beings are doomed. Doomed. Including the Merry Band of Pirates.
