About this listen

What happens in the wake of Failure Mode?

The Aftermath of a stunning victory—especially an unexpected, complete, and final victory—should be high-fives all around, listening to politicians give boring congratulatory speeches, and a well-deserved rest for the Merry Band of Pirates. Yes, the galaxy is still a freakin' mess, but that is nothing new, and for a change, that can be someone else's problem.

Until, you know, something really bad happens, and only the Pirates can deal with the problem... Or not.

Better than last couple

It’s better than the last couple…. Brought in some new intrigue, and like the 10y later reframing, but there still is a high reliance on repetition for gags, and that’s been stale for a while….

Love skippy and Joe

The book was really good and fit in well with the rest of the series. I do miss some of the characters from the last book but I see where their storyline was getting a bit tired . The story was great if not a little predictable I was pretty sure I had the end figured out about a third of the way through. The narration was awesome as always (thank you Mr Bray) and I am now anxiously awaiting the next book only 2days after this one came out

Great start to next adventure

Great as usual. If you got through the other books—you obviously don’t need more input.
Only comment is there were a bit too many rehashed jokes and similar statements. But at this point—probably hard to not rehash the greatest hits.

Large And In Charge!

Skippy and the pirates return in another improbable adventure. They’re officially playing in the big leagues and I loved every minute!

As a huge fan of the series the ending here was a real disappointment

I'm a huge fan of this series, so it's tough to express my disappointment with the latest book. My primary issue lies with the ending. This book introduced a fascinating web of mysteries centered around an evil villain plot. However, as the story progressed towards its climax, many of these intricacies were left unresolved. This made the revelation of the evil entity felt abrupt and unsatisfying, as it ignored the smaller, yet crucial, mysteries built up throughout the book. This oversight resulted in a shallow reveal that didn't do justice to the overall story.

It was surprising to see such a rushed conclusion, especially without setting a clear context for these abandoned mysteries. This is uncharacteristic of an author from whom I've come to expect thorough and engaging storytelling. The absence of resolution for these plot elements was a major letdown.

I hope future installments in the series will revisit and address these unresolved aspects, providing the depth and closure that this book missed. Despite my criticisms, my enthusiasm for the series remains, and I look forward to seeing how the author will tackle these challenges in their upcoming work.

Another Wonderful Flight

This series has been a constant companion for years and I cannot recommend it highly enough. This book is no different. Bishop and Skippy have been missed and this was a fantastic return to form.
