Story
Did you know the typical small business owner works three to four months just to earn enough profit to pay taxes? Whether you've been in business for several decades or are breaking ground as a new entrepreneur, taxes are a significant expenditure. They must be accounted for and incorporated into your business plan from the very beginning. Failing to account for taxes when planning, budgeting, and assessing revenue goals for a business is like failing to account for the expense of your rent or mortgage.

Weird pronunciation and inconsistent recording
Reviewed: 12-12-17
Story was interesting but writing was repetitive with strange word choices. Unbelievably fast love story, especially considering Olivia's past. Big boo on that piece. Narration was obnoxious at times with weird pronunciation and over-articulation. Inconsistent recording quality was the real annoyance to me.

Hated it.
I can't even describe the infuriation I felt continually throughout this book. Writer is extremely condescending toward men, and women if you think as I do. She acts as though she's bolstering her husband by not asserting her equality in the relationship. If you're an overly controlling wife, you may find this book helpful to relinquish some of your control to your husband. But if you're a partner in a relationship looking for guidance on how to be a better, equal entity to your spouse, don't listen to this garbage. I'm truly disgusted.

What would have made Fifty Shades of Grey better?
Toss it and start over.
What was most disappointing about E. L. James’s story?
If you're going to write something elicit, then at least make it good. I'm so disappointed in the general public for giving this piece of garbage such undeserved credit.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Becca Battoe?
Anyone. It took a while to ignore her bad acting but then again, she didn't have much to work with. Horrible writing.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Apathy for the general public's opinion. After all the hype, I thought this would be an interesting listen and maybe a little innovative. Boy, was I wrong. I'm not easily turned off by elicit writing but this was just immature and dumb. It wasn't provocative, in the least, to me. The writing was terribly predictable and the characters were not multidimensional, although the writer was trying hard to make them so. Maybe if the characters were a little older and the heroine a little less naive and "innocent" this would have made for a better story. I felt like I was reading S&M for teens. Disgusting.
Any additional comments?
The emails back and forth, which were constant in the book, were the most annoying thing I've ever made myself sit through. There was a point where I actually felt bad for the narrator.

Story
Clare Cosi used to manage the historic Village Blend coffeehouse…until she opted for quieter pastures and a more suburban life. But after ten years and a little friendly cajoling from the owner (a fresh pot of Jamaican Blue Mountain was all it took), she's back to the grind. With a sprawling rent-free apartment directly above the Village Blend, her cat Java by her side, and plenty of coffeehouse redecorating ideas, Clare is thrilled to return to work. Until she discovers the assistant manager unconscious in the back of the store, coffee grounds strewn everywhere.

Would you consider the audio edition of On What Grounds to be better than the print version?
Depends on your taste. Personally, I enjoyed Rebecca Gibel's narration immensely!
Who was your favorite character and why?
I like that Claire is not obnoxious or overly awkward, as some leads in these types of chick lit seem to be. She's just an everyday person who is passionate about something as everyday as coffee. To me, that makes her interesting. I'm hoping to find out more about Matt, Quinn and Madame in the following books.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I practically did!
Any additional comments?
I really loved the fact that this novel wasn't all about steamy sex scenes. I'M SO OVER THAT!!! Just give me a good story! Thankfully, Cleo Coyle has done just that! I'm purchasing the entire series.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
My advice...skip the Katie MacAlister story and move on to the other two. That is, unless you're into vampire erotica, which I am NOT. I love Molly Harper's wit and will check out some of Jessica Sims now but oh my, the first book is not my taste at all!
If you’ve listened to books by the authors before, how does this one compare?
Just skip this and purchase a full-length Molly Harper book. The Nice Girls series is wonderful.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Undead in My Bed?
The entire first book...Shades of Gray...I mean, really?!
