About this listen

There's trouble brewing at the Village Blend. Business is booming--but Clare's customers are starting to die. Soon after stopping at the coffeehouse, a regular jumps to her death in the subway. Or was she pushed? Detective Quinn is convinced that someone has an axe to grind, especially after the "suicide" of another female customer. Unfortunately, his prime suspect is Bruce Bowman--the new man in Clare's life. Bruce is the perfect blend of rugged good looks and potent personality. Too bad the women in his life keep turning up dead. Now Clare will risk her heart--and her life--to follow the killer's trail to the bitter end…

I really did enjoy this

This is the second book in the coffeehouse mystery series. I really enjoyed the first book and the surprise ending was great but this book also had a twist at the end. Half the fun of a cozy is trying to figure it out but the author doesn't offer many clues. This is the second book where the guilty party wasn't even a character that you knew, someone who was only mentioned in passing and some very vague info was given in one scene.

Clare hasnt been able to figure out the mysteries either, which is disappointing. She finds out at the same time the reader does and its more by chance when she was chasing another clue. The fun of figuring out the mystery before the sleuth is the fun part of a cozy but I dont feel like the author is providing the reader with enough information.

I will continue to read the series because the books are good. Maybe I will get better at seeing the clues that are planted but i am doubtful that there is enough to solve the crime.

My review

I enjoy cozy mysteries. I would have liked this one better if there were no swear words. I've read other mysteries without swear words that were far better. To me a great writer is one who can write a mystery without using swear words and still have a top rated story.

ONE OF THE BEST SERIES

I have one more book to listen to in this series and I'm going to be sad it's ending. Clare and all the other characters were just awesome!

This book had a lot of twists! But the twists are what make a good mystery. Cleo Coyle and her husband have created a cozy mystery series that I'll never forget and I highly recommend either listening to or reading.

Fellow Coffee Lover

I’m really enjoying the stories written by the author! I can almost place myself at the coffee shop and love the way she shares the making of the coffees and food!

Too much going on

I like these coffee house mysteries because they are usually like a quick fix with the bonus of a few coffee tips. This particular episode of the series was not one of the better ones. There were too many murders and too much going on. Narration kept switching between Claire and the killer. The killer wasn't the least bit interesting and the murders were stupid. Claire's involvement in the murders felt forced and I really felt myself not caring. And normally Rebecca Gibel does a pretty good job as reader. But this book had so many characters, her voice changing attempts started to get on my nerves.

I will probably listen to more Cleo Coyle mysteries, but I will probably skim through the hard copies first just to see how many murders are involved.

Story is great but

My husband and I listen to books while we work (our own business) and this was a good story. She spins a good yarn -- but if her editor can't do their job then she should pay for her own. She REALLY needs an editor. Both my husband and I caught her repeating herself in her story.
Excellent narrator!

Another awesome sequel

I am now completely hooked on the Coffee House mystery series. This was the second book in the series. I have read the first and now this one. This novel was written in a way that the reader could enjoy without reading the first one however the first one is just as enjoyable.

Along with the great narration, story plot and twists, I now want to visit New York City. The author describes every every scene with such detail that I want to take it all in personally.

Absolutely enjoyable! I am going back to Audible right now for the next book in the series.
