It never picked up. It just slowly plodded along, and the foreshadowing stole away any anticipation I had about what was going to happen.

It just didn't interest my kids enough to finish it. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great.

Entertaining with no ugly parts. Engaging for an adult, but gentle enough for kids who are easily scared. The narrator had a lovely cadence.

This story was super uncomfortable to listen to. The love story had a stalker vibe that made me feel uncomfortable for everyone involved.

We enjoyed Peter Nimble, and enjoyed Sophie Quire as well. The narration was just sublime.

This was just the story of David with different names, we made it to chapter 6 before losing interest in a story we already were so familiar with. Maybe it gets better as it goes?

The whole idea of a girl who talks to books seemed very interesting. But that is not what the book was about. The story was vastly over shadowed by a plot about a crabby lady planning a fall festival, and dealing with the suffering of a loved one with dimentia. The interesting parts like the two possible love stories and the whole thing about magical books- were left untold. The boring parts, like who said what at a town meeting, were drawn out forever.
