Story
Science is humanity's greatest achievement. It ranges from the study of the universe itself to the smallest particles of matter contained within it - and everything in between. If you want to better understand our physical world, as most of us do, gaining a basic understanding of science itself is profoundly important - yet many are intimidated by the breathtaking scope of such an endeavor. Now an award-winning science teacher has taken out the intimidation, harnessing that breathtaking scope into a series of 60 exciting, comprehensive, and accessible lectures.

GREAT READ FOR SCIENCE OR ENGINEERING STUDENTS
Reviewed: 10-16-22
I was unsure about reading this book due to the length, but am happy that I did. It is a very good way to grasp some of the deeper concepts in science and engineering. So worth putting in some effort if you are into these areas or want to understand more about these areas.

Story
"My father had more than 50 children." So begins the haunting memoir of Anna LeBaron, daughter of the notorious polygamist and murderer Ervil LeBaron. With her father wanted by the FBI for killing anyone who tried to leave his cult - a radical branch of Mormonism - Anna and her siblings were constantly on the run with the other sister-wives. Often starving and always desperate, the children lived in terror. Even though there were dozens of them together, Anna always felt alone.

Great and disturbing

Great and disturbing story about someone who lived through and grew up in polygamy. I always think that scientology is the worst cult you can get, but scientology does not have blood atonement. It only has Tom Cruise, LOL. It is sad that her sister killed herself. This shows the damage abuse can do to a human being.

Story
From Rugby League players trying to improve their game, to Hollywood superstars and the depressed sons of media moguls, Scientology has recruited its share of famous Australians. Less known is that Australia was the first place to ban Scientology, or that Scientology spies helped expose the Chelmsford Deep Sleep Scandal. Numerous Australians have held senior posts in the organisation, only to fall foul of the top brass and lose their families as a result.

"Scientology is a joke. The founder of scientology L R H was a narcistic joke and the org is kept alive by people to stupid to know they are nothing more then cult victims. Happy Birthday you gigantic Joke." If I was going to give a birthday wish to the church of scientology this would be the birthday wish I would give. This book helped me understand the sickness of scientology and their depths of depravity. I suggest the book to anyone who wants to understand this cult a little better.

Story
What is love? It's more scientific than you think. Through 10 lectures, Dr. Wind Goodfriend surveys the biology of interpersonal attraction, sexual preference and desire, and conflict resolution. You'll look at a variety of romantic notions, common myths, and love stereotypes through the lens of science in order to break them down and better set expectations when it comes to keeping a long-term relationship happy and healthy. You'll apply biology, psychology, and anthropology to that "spark" we feel when we are attracted to someone, to better understand what that feeling is.

Very helpful for a deeper understanding of relationships. Most people are not very complex as this book points out. So definitely worth reading, especially the part about interdependence theory that is some real common sense. 1 Relationship satisfaction 2 Alternatives and 3 Investment.

What Einstein Got Wrong

Story
These 12 half-hour lectures are about what Einstein got wrong. He may have kindled a scientific revolution with his famous theory of relativity and his proof that atoms and light quanta exist, but he balked at accepting the most startling implications of these theories - such as the existence of black holes, the big bang, gravity waves, and mind-bendingly strange phenomena in the quantum realm. This course by research physicist Dan Hooper of the University of Chicago assumes no background in science and uses very little math.

It’s not easy living in someone else’s world. But that’s the story of Mike de Wolf’s life...literally. The whole thing started at his friend Horace’s Greenwich Village apartment. Horace is a writer and he’s decided to model one of his villains after Mike. Sounds crazy...until Mike reaches to turn on a light and gets the shock of his life. Knocked unconscious, Mike wakes up to find himself tossing in a violent ocean surf and getting slammed against the rocks.

"God in a dirty bathrobe ".Great story.

I read this fiction story in order to better understand L Ron Hubbard's mind. If L Ron Hubbard truely wrote this then the story is both disturbing and pleasantly enjoyable. This book definitely gives insight into the mind of the person who created the Church of Scientology.
You have a main character controlled by the writings of a master mind who came into possession of a magical typewriter. And analougously to a memeber of Scientology. You have a cult member who came under the spell of LRH and his cult writings.
This book helped me understand L Ron Hubbard and I strongly suggest it as a fictional read because the reality of scientology plays out in the plot of the book.

Story
The sunshine that hits the Earth in a single hour could meet the world's food and energy demands for an entire year. If only we could make use of it, that is. Solar power is not just about turning sunlight into electricity - we also need a way of capturing and storing it, of moving it around to where it's needed. Of providing power during the night. In short we need a way of bottling sunshine so we can have as much of it as we want, wherever and whenever we like.
