Poorly written, good content
Reviewed: 01-30-23
This book was written in a convoluted and winding way that made it difficult to follow. I welcomed the content, I just wish it was more presented more succinctly.

Story
A razor-sharp polemic that offers an entirely new understanding of our bodies, ourselves, and our place in the universe, Natural Causes describes how we overprepare and worry way too much about what is inevitable. One by one, Ehrenreich topples the shibboleths that guide our attempts to live a long, healthy life—from the importance of preventive medical screenings to the concepts of wellness and mindfulness, from dietary fads to fitness culture. But Natural Causes goes deeper—into the fundamental unreliability of our bodies and even our "mind-bodies", to use the fashionable term.

I felt defeated after reading this. Seems like she's aiming to challenge money of our health assumptions, but wound up concluding that everything is out of our control, so why bother trying?

Story
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

She’s certain that to succeed in a man’s world, she will have to go it alone.

Senseless romance novel
Reviewed: 03-24-19
This book turned the story of an amazing person like Marie Cirie into a stupid senseless romance novel. I wish they would have shown her more respect.
