Story
John Charming isn't your average prince... He comes from a line of Charmings - an illustrious family of dragon slayers, witch-finders and killers dating back to before the fall of Rome. Trained by a modern day version of the Knights Templar, monster hunters who have updated their methods from chain mail and crossbows to Kevlar and shotguns, John Charming was one of the best-until a curse made him one of the abominations the Knights were sworn to hunt.

Narration is abysmal.

Quitting with 7 hours left. The narration is jarring and just makes it tough to focus on the story.

Story
When a high-ranking officer gallops into the quiet Mistyvales, he brings a warning that shakes the countryfolk to their roots. But for Aedan, a scruffy young adventurer with veins full of fire and a head full of ideas, this officer is not what he seems. The events that follow propel Aedan on a journey that only the foolhardy or desperate would risk, leading him to the gates of the nation's royal academy - a whole world of secrets in itself. But this is only the beginning of his discoveries.

Simply Fantastic!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely. Very well written, great characters, engaging story and, for our purposes here, a great narrator.
What does Tim Gerard Reynolds bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
As are many of us - audible listeners I mean - I'm very leery of narrators any more. When they're good thing are good and when they're bad, well, I stop listening to the book. I wouldn't say Tim is my favorite but he does a great job.
Any additional comments?
I loved this book. Such a refreshing change from what I've been slogging through lately - I'm looking at you "Wheel of Time" books 8 and 9...and now 10. The story is great as are the characters. Very engaging, well written material. Never dull and never just page filler. It's going to be hard to wait for the next installment.
