Mel, PLEASE write All About Me part Two
Reviewed: 12-15-21
You need to read this book. That's what most people say, but you NEED to LISTEN to this book as Mel Brooks narrated his own story. I don't care for slapstick, so I don't care for many of his popular movies, but I have always loved #MelBrooks! He, himself, has always made me laugh. He's the grandpa I'd love to have in my life. I do love movies his company, Brooksfilms Productions, produced. I had no idea he was behind the remake of The Fly with Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis. I watched it again last night. It held up pretty well I think. You might be surprised at what other films he's behind. I know I am. I know I will listen to this book over and over.
Mel, I loved listening to your stories about your career. PLEASE write It's All About Me part 2 with more stories about your personal life. I'd love to know what you and Carl Reiner laughed about during lunches. How did you feel watching Anne mother your children? We all know you have much, much more to say.

Story
On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.

Story
In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis' parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there's no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents - telekinesis and telepathy - who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and 10-year-old Avery Dixon.

The Wheel Can Be Reinvented
Reviewed: 09-17-19
Firstly, the narrator blew me away! Dozens of characters and he had a distinctive voice for each of them. Bravo!
When the story started out I thought the theme was familiar enough. I thought SK isn't reinventing the wheel on this one, but there were bound to be some twists. Well, the wheel blew up into a million little pieces, some with slightly different shapes, and some shapes I'd never seen before at all. I finished this book in four days and I'm sorry I won't be going back into this world tomorrow. I'm sure I'll be back to visit, though.
I can't sleep. Maybe I'll go visit Ralph tonight.

Story
It's been twelve years since the undead hordes swept over the earth forcing mankind to the brink of extinction. We now live like rats, scavenging in the ruins of our fallen civilization as the dead hunt us night and day. There is little left to scavenge, however. Grocery stores were emptied ages ago, gas tanks have long been dry and bullets are so precious that a man is lucky to have two to his name. Still, we survive. But for how much longer? Instinct and love have combined to turn Darwin's theory on its head. The strongest didn't survive in this world. They were the first to die, leaving behind a generation of orphans. It's a generation that's never had a full belly. It's a generation that has no idea what an Xbox did, or what algebra is for. It's a generation of children who never laugh out loud, and who have learned to cry softly because the dead are always near and the dead are always so very, very hungry.
