Story
Since she was three years old, Anastasia Miller has been telling anyone who would listen that she's an alien disguised as a human being, and that the armada that left her on Earth is coming for her. Since she was three years old, no one has been willing to listen. Now, with an alien signal from the stars being broadcast around the world, humanity is finally starting to realize that it's already been warned, and it may be too late.

Yet another fantastic book from Mira Grant. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and got a lot of weeding and planting done while listening to the audiobok.

Good Story; Now Outdated Language
Reviewed: 11-28-24
An interesting story about learning from tradition, fitting in, wildlife conservation, and not freezing on the ice. As with all of this author's books, he respect and admiration for both the cultures and the animals featured are readily apparent but language has definitely shifted in the 40ish years since its writing, so be aware of that.

Story
When former soldier Everett Cole signed on to help colony planets prepare for joining the Federation, his employers were disconcertingly vague about their identity and his duties. Yet, the pay was good, and it got him off Earth and on the way to a fresh start. More reservations arose when, 11 light-years from Earth, he met his partner, Edgar Millen, an enigmatic man with a penchant for violent solutions and a fetish for the mythology and language of the American Wild West.

Made it about half way through and just was not actually engaged with the story and didn't care about any of the characters. Picked up something else and didn't have the urge to come back, so I'm moving on instead of returning.

Story
Cordelia knows her mother is . . . unusual. Their house doesn’t have any doors between rooms—there are no secrets in this house—and her mother doesn't allow Cordelia to have a single friend. Unless you count Falada, her mother's beautiful white horse. The only time Cordelia feels truly free is on her daily rides with him. But more than simple eccentricity sets her mother apart. Other mothers don’t force their daughters to be silent and motionless for hours, sometimes days, on end. Other mothers aren’t sorcerers.

Brilliant and creepy and fun. T Kingfisher as usual provides us with an engaging cast of characters doing their best in an increasingly bizarre situation, and it was a wonderful journey.

Fascinating world concept, well written. The narrator has a lively voice, unfortunately the editing of this audiobook was flawed and there are many repeated lines and glitches, which frequently interrupted the flow of the story. Maybe pass on the audio and read this one on paper if you can.

Story
Princess Sylviianel has always known that on her 12th birthday she too would be bound to her own Pegasus. All members of the royal family have been thus bound since the Alliance was made almost a thousand years ago; the binding system was created to strengthen the Alliance, because humans and pegasi can only communicate formally, through specially trained Speaker magicians. Sylvi is accustomed to seeing pegasi every day at the palace, but she still finds the idea of her binding very daunting.

Cliff hanger
Reviewed: 06-18-24
Very engaging story, interesting characters, well described society with characters working toward common goal while not always getting along (the pegasi, not the humans). But it ends very suddenly on a dramatic point without resolution, and the expected sequel has apparently been delayed for at least a decade so unlikely to drop imminently.

Story
When Mouse’s dad asks her to clean out her dead grandmother's house, she says yes. After all, how bad could it be? Answer: pretty bad. Grandma was a hoarder, and her house is stuffed with useless rubbish. That would be horrific enough, but there’s more - Mouse stumbles across her step-grandfather’s journal, which at first seems to be filled with nonsensical rants...until Mouse encounters some of the terrifying things he described for herself.
