The author expertly blends sadness and comedy and the result is a surprising and satisfying ending. I’ll be seeking out more of his work.

Stories are short, but all are well-written and interesting. I was pleased that I wasn’t familiar with any of them..

Unfortunately, other mystery anthologies have fallen into “wokeness” of late, not so here. Just good-old fashioned, suspenseful writing. All of these stories were a delight.

Four novellas each going down a different path, but all satisfying. I’m glad he brought back Holly Gibney. We get to discover a different side of her each time he does

Denise Mina has created a great character in Alex Morrow. Never sentimental, but always smart and on point. I hadn’t read a Denise Mina novel in awhile, this new series has reviewed my interest, and I didn’t see the ending coming. I’ll check out the first in the series.

First, the narration. I agree that the female narrator shouldn’t have tried to do male voices. That said, it didn’t detract from the story. Secondly, the author coveted the true horror of the story without going into too much detail. I would recommend the book to anyone interested in the subject matter.

Tells the story without ever being exploitive . It just flew by, didn’t seem like over 6 hours. Paul Holes has the perfect voice for audio, despite not being a professional narrator . I really felt like I was listening to a novel it was such a disturbing yet riveting story
