Wednesday, October 2, 2002.
Aspen Hill, Maryland. Northgate Plaza.
5:20 p.m.

Inside Michael’s craft supply store, cashier Ann Chapman rings up another customer. Then it happens. A loud crack; a gust of wind; the light in register five goes dark.

Over the next 23 days, the entire DC area will be thrust into a reign of terror unprecedented in American history. Sniper attacks targeting and murdering everyday citizens will bring the entire region to its knees as a nation still reeling from the recent attacks of 9/11 and the anthrax scare is forced to confront a new type of brutal assault - this time in their own backyard. As law enforcement grapples with the mass carnage and chaos, the media’s ravenous 24-hour cycle amplifies the very real fear while steadily pumping new theories and bad leads onto a paralyzed public desperate for it all to end.

But who can stop it? And exactly how?

Call Me God is the never-before-told story of the fascinating and turbulent investigation that led to the diabolical and elusive killers' capture - one that pitted protocol against instinct, sacred institutions against individual insight. Told firsthand by those few who had the vision and expertise to solve it, and including a fascinating look into the behavioral, ballistic, forensic, and electronic analysis vital to cracking the case, FBI agent brothers Jim Clemente (former FBI behavioral profiler) and Tim Clemente (former FBI counterterrorism expert) take us through every facet and flaw of a nationwide manhunt that pressure tested nearly every aspect of law enforcement capabilities - and its glaring vulnerabilities.

Anchored by harrowing accounts from victims, intimate conversations with family members of those deceased, and candid accounts from those who knew the perpetrators best, relive the haunting events of the DC Sniper attack and piece together a true crime phenomenon, the impact of which can still be felt today.

The music is unnecessary!

Good story, I lived it, so it was nice to know the details of the investigation. Hearing the victims’ family members, really made it more personal.
The music was extremely annoying and made it not an enjoyable listen.

Worth your time

This audiobook was more like watching frontline in your head. It’s the first audiobook for me that was truly a performance. It has music and 911 calls along with several of the victims families own personal stories. All those things basically transport you into that time in history. Truthfully I found myself feeling the actual fear of those 23 days. That being said, as the the title states, totally worth your time.

Great Listen, Outstanding book

Growing up in Montgomery County and only two miles from the first shots they took in MD, this really hit home listening to the stories from the men and women affected by this tragedy. From law enforcement to survivors to the family members speaking on behalf of the those they lost, this really was a well done “performance”, reading.

Very informative and very well written. Worth the listen.

amazingly done!

Don't listen to this at night especially if you live close to where these horrible shootings happened. This will make you think about your personal safety and of your loved ones. This is the best Audible Original I have ever listened to and highly recommend this.

This was as much podcast 😂 as literature

I was entertained at the production, but truthfully it's really not much better than a u tube documentary, and it's reporting is very biased toward law enforcement, however, you do learn how dedicated combined focus from both a law and population can reign in the outlier's.

RIVETING!!!

What an amazing honest rendition of a horrible time in US history. Living far away from loved one who lived right where the shooting happened caused me to follow the story as it happens - this answers the behind the scenes questions. Thank you

Great story, crazy music

I loved this book. I learned a lot, it even made me cry at a few different points. I highly recommend it. But the music cues in it are completely bonkers and drove me nuts throughout the book. Such a weird choice. But other than that, I loved it,
