this new narrator isn‘t even remotely up to the task. following the plot gets quite tedious when you can barely differentiate between all the characters. no talent for dialects/accents.
The written book is a better experience. the books plot is also a bit questionable in places. always annoying when an author doesn‘t remember their own characters back stories.

Story
The glorious Phryne Fisher returns to the spotlight in her seventh adventure. Fisher is an independent, unconventional PI with competence, unflappability and flamboyance in equal measures.
Running late to the Hinkler gala performance of Gilbert and Sullivan's Ruddigore, she meets some thugs in a dark alley and handles them convincingly before they can ruin her silver dress. Phryne then finds that she has rescued a gorgeous Chinese, Lin Chung, and his grandmother, and is briefly mistaken for a deity.

Cringeworthy Singing
Reviewed: 06-22-23
The normal spoken voice performance was very good, as always.. But the awful singing ruined it for me.

Story
Thinking that she has been summoned by German immigrant Agnes Otto to usher a new life into the world, midwife Sarah Brandt is greeted by the news of an untimely death instead. It seems that Agnes' beautiful younger sister, Gerda, had fallen into the life of a "charity girl". Caught up in the false glamour of the city's nightlife, she would trade her company and her favors for lavish gifts. And now she was dead - victim, no doubt, of one of her "gentlemen friends".

predictable plot

i'd hoped for a bit of a plot twist, but the killer was utterly predictable from the first time they appeared in the story. boring.

Story
When Nina Linden is hired to landscape a private island off the New England coast, she sees it as her chance to rebuild her failing business after being cheated by her unscrupulous ex. She never expects that her new client, software mogul Deacon Whitney, would see more in her than just a talented gardener. Deacon has paid top dollar to the crews he’s hired to renovate the desolate Whitney estate - he had to, because the bumps, thumps, and unexplained sightings of ghostly figures in 19th-century dress are driving workers away faster than he can say “Boo.”

Amanda Ronconi did a stellar job - as she always does.
the story by molly harper was fun to listen to, I liked the characters a lot (especially deacon) and until the end I wasn't quite sure who was the killer. :)
