Funny and heartful characters against a fantastic foe. The idea and theme are quite fun and quirky but seriously good against evil. The narrator suits the characters beautifully. I'm totally excited for the next installment!!

Story
Though I was born with the ability to see the dead, I struggled with it until my brother was killed and his ghost was left behind. Now, I’m determined to figure out who is responsible for his death…the problem is that Detective Maddox Booker, the one working the case, is a grumpy and stubborn man who wants nothing to do with me and definitely doesn’t believe in ghosts. It doesn’t help that I keep finding myself looking ridiculous in front of the detective, thanks to interfering ghosts who enjoy laughing at my expense.

Time very well spent
Reviewed: 03-17-23
When you finish a book and look around your life for the characters as if they were your friends, that's a damn fine author. Alice Winters writes a fully fleshed out ghost story with heart and humor. Greg Boudreau captures the essence of the characters and story so very skillfully, it's hard to hit pause until the last word. Kudos to all who had a hand in delivering this work to the masses. I, for one, am very grateful.

Story
Bookish, snarky, and fiercely independent Nate Boudreaux leads a solitary life. Between teaching classes at the university and working toward his PhD, he doesn’t need a partner to occupy his time, and he certainly doesn’t need a man like Alistair Drake complicating his future. Alistair Drake, black sheep of the tremendously wealthy Drake family, is more interested in adding another notch to his bedpost than another zero to his bank account.

After his discharge, former Delta soldier Adam Travail just wanted to find somewhere to settle, a new home, where he could utilize his skills without the threat of his PTSD rearing its ugly head. The security position at the Chicago nightclub The Witch’s Brew seemed like the perfect fit and it was even after he learned that everything he thought was fiction was, in fact, reality. Fighting his attraction to his new security employee was the least of Mikael Popov’s problems when he is attacked several times in his club.

A man who, by reputation, is one of Scotland's cruelest lairds in over a century. But what choice does she have, with her father dead and her uncle now married to his brother's widow, putting him in charge of not only the Blackthorne fortune, but Sibyl's future as well?
