About this listen

Hiro

Though I was born with the ability to see the dead, I struggled with it until my brother was killed and his ghost was left behind. Now, I’m determined to figure out who is responsible for his death...the problem is that Detective Maddox Booker, the one working the case, is a grumpy and stubborn man who wants nothing to do with me and definitely doesn’t believe in ghosts. It doesn’t help that I keep finding myself looking ridiculous in front of the detective, thanks to interfering ghosts who enjoy laughing at my expense. Still, the more I’m around Maddox, the more I realize that beneath that surly exterior is a kind and caring man who will do anything to help.

Maddox

When another man dies, I know we have a serial killer on our hands - the same murderer who has remained elusive for a year and a half. To add to my frustration, I keep running into Hiro at crime scenes, only to hear him claim that he can talk to ghosts. The words of the dead could lead us to the serial killer and even tell us who is next, but ghosts? There’s no such thing as ghosts. Hiro is determined and charming, and no matter what I do, I can’t stop letting him get involved. He's definitely snagged my attention, but when he nearly winds up dead, I know he's getting closer to the truth - and if I don’t do something soon, he might be next.

Ghost of Lies is full of action, mystery, humor, and romance. Though more is planned for this couple, the mystery is solved and there is a happy ending.

I want me a man like Maddox.😏🤭

The story and the performance was over all gorgeous. This book made me feel like a detective 😁 I love the relationship between Maddox and Hiro even though at first it took a long time to get to where they were. I love how there was no misunderstandings or love triangles even though I wanted Nicholas, Maddox and Hiro sandwich. Also, I love how Natalie and the other ghosts bully Hiro sometimes but they're always there when he needs them.

Gripping Storytelling Plus It's Funny

I have never found a audio book that I can listen to more then twice without getting board, until now. I have listened to this book more times then I can count it's funny, intriguing, and captivating. The story telling is top notch performance. The author couldn't of written this book any better if she tried....

All the feels

This book was so well written and performed that I found myself laughing out loud, grabbing for tissues and trying to figure out how to add “bird-cat” to my vocabulary. The writing was quirk and the characters so real o feel like I could touch them. This will be one I listen to again!!

Ghost everywhere

Greg Boudreaux is one of the best. He does an excellent job voicing the characters in this one.

3.75 stars for the story.
Hiro can interact with ghost and there is a serial killer at large. One where his adoptive brother was the first victim. He wants to help solve the case but the lead detective, Maddox, isn't a big fan of his. However, Hiro works his way onto the case and into Maddox heart.
I love stories where one can see/interact with ghost and they use their powers to solve crimes that also helps the ghost find peace. One of my favorite series, The Spectral Files by S.E. Harmon, is very similar to this one. This book was entertaining and trying to figure out the killer kept me guessing.
I did knock a star off because Natalie's behavior was a bit too much. Also, when Hiro and Maddox got together Hiro started sounding a little too Lelandish(yes that's a word now lol). Speaking of Natalie why was she never around when Millie appeared? Supposedly she has been around hero for years but when an evil ghost attacks she now where to be found. Like what?!
Anyways this was a solid entertaining listen.

Great story!

I love the narrator of this book. He’s fantastic and as usual does a fantastic job with separating his character voices and inflections. The story is very well done and I had no idea about the ending, it was a big surprise. As with many Alice Winters books there were lots of laughs, and I still cried at least twice. Hero and Maddox had a great chemistry. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
