Prepare for an Emotional Roller Coaster!
Reviewed: 02-16-24
Light Lost is the second book in the Shadows and Light series by Georgia Leigh. I thought book one was fantastic, but this one was so much more. If you are looking for a new fantasy series to read this one IS A MUST READ!!!! The author immerses you in this world that she has created. The writing is on point for me and she does such a great job giving you what you need without major info dumps, which can be hard to get through in some fantasy series. Light in the Shadows ended on a major cliff hanger and this installment picks up right where we left off with Haven and Ryker. If you haven't read the first book, you definitely need to do that now.
The narrator for this book is the same as book 1, which makes diving into this one so easy. She really continues to bring these characters to life for me. She tells their stories with such emotion, and it really makes you feel their pain, love, happiness, and sadness so much more.
This is definitely a slow burn fantasy. This book spans more that 80 years, so there is so much to cover and set up for the next books in the series. The world building in this series is so intricate and detailed, and I love how by the end of this book, things are falling into place and leaves us reeling with disbelief at some of the revelations at the end. I expected a few of them but was completely blindsided by others and loved every minute of it!
Ryker continues to be my favorite character, and my heart ached for him throughout this entire book. His journey without Haven is gut wrenching and full of raw emotions. Georgia Leigh doesn't try to spare our feelings at all and at times I felt like I just needed some happiness for poor Ryker's broken heart to be mended, even just a little.
Be warned, this book is going to take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions and leave you destroyed in the most delicious way. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book in the series!

Ryker is EVERYTHING!
Reviewed: 02-14-24
Captivating New Fantasy Series! This is a new fantasy series about Haven, a girl who has felt isolated and unloved most of her life. She starts at an academy for magical beings and begins to really live life for the first time. She is discovering the power of friendship and love as well as uncovering her own magical abilities.
The narrator did an amazing job of bringing these characters to life. Once I started listening, I was hooked. This story definitely has it all! I must also say that RYKER IS EVERYTHING!!!!! This book is my first read by the author, Georgia Leigh. I think it is a fantastic start to this series, but it did start a bit slow and was very overwhelming with characters and beings to keep track of.
By the end of the book, I was in love with all of the characters, but it did take a while to really get into the story just because I felt confused about everyone. I had a hard time keeping everything and everyone straight and figuring out the ins and outs of this new world. So if you start this one, don't give up on it too early! It definitely pays off in the end! I hope the author will add a glossary or cliff notes or something to book 2 to help us keep everything straight!! I can't wait to continue this journey with book 2 and hope that comes out soon!

Second Chance at First Love
Reviewed: 02-03-23
Running from the Rockstar is a second chance at romance for our main characters Terri and Paxton. They meet when they are adolescents after Paxton's rockstar father dies of a drug overdose and Terri's family takes him in as a foster. Terri is a shy and awkward teen while Paxton is the complete opposite with confidence and determination. They have an almost instant connection and bond while giving each other the support that they both need. The early chapters are well written and you really feel the angst of teenage life. The author does a great job capturing all the feels for first teenage love and makes you remember those years fondly.
The two are separated, and we fast forward twelve years. I appreciated the way the author completely reversed their characters in the second half of the book. Terri is now the confident one and Paxton is awkwardly struggling to find his way. The rockstar lifestyle is dragging him down and he has lost his way.
This is a story of redemption, second chances, and holding on to that first true love. It is a roller coaster of emotions but such a beautiful ride. I would have enjoyed seeing more of an epilogue to find out more about how their relationship progresses, but hopefully we will glimpse that in the future if we get another book in the series.

Quick and Cozy Story

This is a short but sweet age gap love story. We meet Beth, who is a single almost 40 year old mother. She is moving on after 2 failed relationships and meets a much younger man who she falls head over heels for. I really enjoyed this story. It had many sweet moments and shows us that love, no matter the age difference, can find you anywhere. The story line was a bit predictable and I felt the end was rushed a bit, but overall it was a great read!
I loved the main narrator, but I personally did not enjoy the multiple narrators in the book. I felt that it was a bit distracting and took away from the story.

This is a forbidden love story about Lucinda and Isaac who have a secret affair and is set in the 1600s during the Salem witch trials. From the prologue, this book sucks you in. It gives you just enough information to want to know how this story will end. The characters were spot on for the time period and the author definitely made a huge effort to have the dialect for the characters reminiscent of that era. The narrator was able to help bring these characters to life and I enjoyed the audio very much.
I really enjoy the journey of getting to know Lucinda and Isaac and could feel their internal struggles throughout the book. This book definitely had twists and turns that I was absolutely not expecting and the end definitely left me screaming and reaching for the next book.
Overall I thought this was a good read and look forward to continuing the series.

The Reaping is the conclusion to the story we first learned about in The Awakening. This story continues the journey of Lexie and Ivan that we only see a glimpse of in the end of the first book. I loved how this book intertwined with The Awakening and the twists and turns throughout the book we really well done. I had a hard time walking away from this book once I started it. The narrator was great and really helped to bring the characters to life. It was a great conclusion to the story!

Feel Good Story!
Reviewed: 11-16-22
Circle of Secrets is the debut book of author, Lauren Tisdale. I am just starting my journey into this author's books. I am rating this one as a solid 3 stars. The narrator of this book was not my favorite for an audible book. She seemed to have a difficult time staying in the character's voice and some of the accents she used were just not good.
It is the story of two women who learn about past secrets that have been kept from them. This book followers their journey of discovering the truth and dealing with all of the consequences of those truths.
I enjoyed the storyline, but will say that it was not what I was expecting after reading the synopsis and seeing the cover. I was anticipating this to be more of a thriller and way more suspenseful than it was. That being said, the story was good and kept my interest. I felt a little disconnected from the characters because most of them seemed to be a little too perfect. They handled the discovery a bit too perfectly, and I missed feeling the angst of the females leads when they learn about the big secret. They learned about it, and then just dealt with it and moved one gracefully. I am not sure how realistic that is, but maybe people are like that. Personally, I certainly would have been screaming and carrying on way more! The plot was a bit predictable and there were not any big twists, but if you are looking for a feel good book to read, this is probably a good choice for you! I think it was a good first book for the author, and I expect the next ones will only get better from here.

If you like to curl up on a cool fall day and listen to a great book, then this book is for you! This is the story of Julie who gets left at the altar and decides to go on a solo honeymoon to a tropical paradise. While reeling from the grief and shock of her recent break up, she meets a kind bartender and begins her journey to heal her heart.
The narrator really brings the story to life with her happy and energetic voice.
Lauren Tisdale brings this little island to life and has me longing to visit this cozy island and indulge in some salted caramel ice cream. I found the characters to be very relatable and charming. This was a quick and cute novella that I couldn't put down. I love a good romance story and a happily ever after, and this one really hit the spot! My only regret was that it could have been longer!!!! I want more and look forward to reading more from this author.
