About this listen

Love can be a neverending storm of passion...or hate.

Paxton Ross is a kid from the wrong side of the tracks. Finding his father dead in a seedy motel room due to an overdose, 16-year-old Paxton suddenly becomes homeless and destitute.

Terri Kingston is a girl who seems to have everything: a lavish lifestyle, a good school, a perfect family, but outside appearances can be deceiving. What she needs most—love and acceptance—has always been denied.

When Terri and Paxton meet during their teen years, their worlds collide into a messy, beautiful, forbidden love.

But Terri’s parents tear them apart for 12 years. When they run into each other again, things have changed, and not for the better.

Will they get a second chance to find true love, or will the temptations of the rockstar world rip them apart once more?

HOLY CRACKERS ON TOAST, THIS IS AMAZING!!

I want to give it more than 5 stars. I did not sleep one wink last night, tormented between wanting to race to finish the story and see what happened and begrudgingly not wanting it to end!

Holy Smokin Bewilikers Batman, this book is Awe-worthy, Brilliant, Creatively Done, Dramatic, Excellent Performance, Freaking-incredible... I could go on using more of the alphabet but I think you get the hint...WOW!

I was so invested in the lives of these characters, it could have been real. Just Yes! this is a frequent re-read/re-hear for me.

Second Chance at First Love

Running from the Rockstar is a second chance at romance for our main characters Terri and Paxton. They meet when they are adolescents after Paxton's rockstar father dies of a drug overdose and Terri's family takes him in as a foster. Terri is a shy and awkward teen while Paxton is the complete opposite with confidence and determination. They have an almost instant connection and bond while giving each other the support that they both need. The early chapters are well written and you really feel the angst of teenage life. The author does a great job capturing all the feels for first teenage love and makes you remember those years fondly.

The two are separated, and we fast forward twelve years. I appreciated the way the author completely reversed their characters in the second half of the book. Terri is now the confident one and Paxton is awkwardly struggling to find his way. The rockstar lifestyle is dragging him down and he has lost his way.

This is a story of redemption, second chances, and holding on to that first true love. It is a roller coaster of emotions but such a beautiful ride. I would have enjoyed seeing more of an epilogue to find out more about how their relationship progresses, but hopefully we will glimpse that in the future if we get another book in the series.

Peter Pan and Wendy as Star Crossed Lovers

This book had great characters that you just wanted to listen to more of. When orphan Paxton comes to live with Terri Kingston and her family he helps her escape from the half life that she was living due to an absentee father who worked too much and was kind of crooked and a demeaning mother. Paxton shows Terri that she's worth more than the way everyone treats her. He is sweet and kind and reads his mother's copy of Peter Pan to Terri and her sister. He asks her to be the Wendy to his Peter Pan. Fast forward to years later and Terri owns her own radio station and takes no nonsense. Paxton is on the verge of fulfilling his lifelong dream but it feels like something's missing. This book is about second chances and almost misses.
