Story
It was four o'clock in the morning. A young woman pushed through the hospital doors. Staff would later say they thought the woman was a new mother, returning to her child - and in a way, she was. She walked into the nursery, where a baby girl lay sleeping. The infant didn't wake when the woman placed her gently in the shopping bag she had brought with her. There is CCTV footage of what happened next, and most Australians would have seen it, either on the internet or the news.

Story
In the wake of the George Floyd murder and calls for defunding the police, Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd reflects on our changing points of view on law enforcement through a personal prism - the life and times of her father. For four decades, Detective Sergeant Michael J. Dowd served on the Washington, DC, police force, guarding presidents and catching killers. Meanwhile, his daughter grew up as a child of the 1960s, embracing liberal politics and evolving into a journalist some presidents might have thought they needed to be guarded from.

NOPE!

If I would've known this author was going to color everything she said with her heavily weighted left sided political views...I wouldn't have wasted my 7½ minutes. add it is, that's all I could choke down. Enough is enough, can't people open their eyes and mind enough to see a whole view of things... AND WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE THINK WE NEED TO BE SCHOOLED AND LECTURED ON THEIR OPINIONS.
this would've been a much better read had it been busy about a girl and her cop daddy. I don't know how it turned out, I couldn't bear any more slanted views.

Story
“The Heron” is the nickname a big-city accountant has attached to himself in his new home near San Diego, where he’s using the alias to avoid a hit man who may be after him. It seems a former client believes that The Heron has skipped town with several million dollars not his own. Don Winslow’s ensuing, entertaining yarn is by turns twisty, dark, and comical as we observe the delicate dance between the pursuer and the pursued.

Disgusting Language
Reviewed: 10-12-22
the language used in the beginning of this book, as well as the gist was absolutely uncalled for. hopefully the author can find their feet and write something worth listening to or reading. Can't begin to rate the performance or the storyline as the obscenity was so harsh and seemingly making worthless points, I couldn't get past 5 minutes.

He was only four years old at the time. Decades later, Amador would delve into the remarkable odyssey of his Gracianna’s past, a road that led him to an incredible surprise. many times the freebies in audibles member library are duds so my hopes were not high for this book. I determined I would give it 30 minutes to prove it's worth. (besides being a freebie being read by the author has shown itself to be not at all worth the listen)
30 minutes turned to an hour, then to hours as I was mesmerized with the story of each character in the book. especially so with Juan and Gracianna.
The story was fabulous, though at times I wanted to shake the main character 🤫.
The voice of the author was not at all horrendous, actually it felt as if I were sitting listening to a storyteller.
This is a good book and I hope you enjoy as much as I did.
