Simply dreck - a bad radio drama

I really enjoyed the world that Correia has created in the Grimnoir Chronicles, but this story is not a good representation of that universe.

Sure, that '50s shtick is cute, but this is hammed up way beyond what might be considered excessive. It's a bad radio drama, with a character we like acting uncharacteristically. While Jake Sullivan stars as a Heavy, he is a pale representation of who he is in the original novels. What he says and how he acts do not match the hero he is in Correia's series. This Jake is store-brand white bread.

Some books steal you away for hours, and you feel that only minutes have passed. This book does the opposite. It was a near-unbearable two hours, and I finished it out of sheer determination.

I generally prefer a single narrator, but have found some of the full-cast productions on Audible to be enjoyable. This was not one of them.

This was my first experience with Capote - I knew of him, but had never read any of his works - something I will definitely amend.
While the story itself is engaging , Capote's descriptive narrative was fascinating. Amazing wordchoice. Delicious phrasing. Beautiful pacing. As a writer, I loved the structure and syntax, and as a reader I enjoyed the characters and story.

Michael C. Hall did a fantastic job with the narration - taking you into and out of the characters nimbly while deftly defining their unique voices.

An excellent performance of a spectacular short story.

I'm a fan of Luke Daniels, so was excited to listen to this story from one of the SciFi masters.
It's not his best work, but it was an interesting premise that keeps you guessing (or confused) the whole way through - especially the end.

Loved the attention to detail, emphasized by the current era's sense of fashion. Lots of humour, but probably only a listen-once kind of story.

I'm a 46-year-old dude and love to listen to audio books while out hiking with my almost-good dogs. Fortunately I walk them in remote areas, so nobody actually saw me crying like a baby while listening to this book. That's a good thing.

The story itself is good - other than the fact that life has to end before it can begin again. Once you get past that part (well...parts...) you can enjoy the trip. It's not a literary masterpiece, but it's an interesting story.

The narration - well, Dufris has a nice tonality, but I didn't enjoy the voice he used for the dog(s) - it was that fake kid's voice, but i guess it grew on me as i found it less irritating as the story went on.

If you enjoy Old Yeller or Marley and Me, this might be your kind of book. If you don't like brutal sadness in your story, choose something else. Even the happy ending wasn't particularly happy (but it is the inevitable and obvious end for this story)

Excellent narration from Gideon emery, and an interesting premise from Jason hough. Very enjoyable - will read more if this becomes a series, but it's still nice as a standalone.

Feminism, racism, and sexism aside, this is a hilarious romp through the 4-o-double-natural. Narration is excellent (not sure if Alan Alda heard this before creating his character, or if Hooker modeled it after Alda - either way, it's spot on)

My liver was sore after reading this - not sure if it was from laughter or osmosis of the non-stop drinking - but I'll definitely read again and will look for the movie.

It's an interesting look at what was nearly socially acceptable - can't imagine anything like this happening today.

This was a fun little listen with a humorous take on the multiverse, asexual reproduction, and a looooove story. Narration was good ( done by the author who reads surprisingly well), humor was there (maybe a bit forced in a few spots - but some definite LOL moments) and the story was original. Will listen to this one again, and will look for more from this author.

The premise of this story is cute - i was expecting a dilbert'ish romp with a demonic consultant. That's not this book.

It is far easier to believe that the consultant is an alien or demon (I truly don't know what they will be revealed as - and at halfway through the book, I don't care) than it is to believe that a US corporation would be bound by such an agreement. This is simply ridiculous, and it keeps getting worse. I normally love spending some quality time with Audible, but the last few sessions have been painful.

Mandatory blood tests, mandatory - under penalty of job-loss 'retreats' where they shoot - and eat - dogs, proper wiping etiquette with video of employees 'overusing' corporate supplies of TP, - cameras in the bathrooms, cameras in the examination rooms - it's just too much. When the consultant started showing up in the playground to discuss uniforms with Dylan, I knew I'd never hear the end of this story.

And that made me happy.

What made the experience of listening to Three the most enjoyable?

Found Three to be a great character, and by the end of the story I wanted to know more about him and his previous escapades. A great character, a brilliant premise, and strong narration made this an enjoyable listen

Have you listened to any of Luke Daniels’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I'm a huge fan of the Iron Druid series, largely due to Luke Daniel's performance. While the summary for Three was interesting, it was the fact that it was narrated by Daniels that made me click the buy button.

Would you listen to Confessions of a D-List Supervillain again? Why?

Yes - and I have. Really enjoyable story, and for the most part, outstanding narration.

What did you like best about this story?

Humour. So much humour. Loved the main character and his complete lack of morals.

What three words best describe Jeffrey Kafer and Talmadge Ragan ’s voice?

Jeffrey Kafer - brilliant, passionate, intriguing.
Talmadge Ragan - robotic, irritating, distracting.
The narration for the epilogues just about ruined an otherwise excellent performance. With her terrible inflection and monotonous delivery, she would only be suitable to voice Andy-roid.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

A ton of laugh out loud moments

Any additional comments?

Please revise this story with an update for the epilogues. Second time listening to this, and wanted to tear my headphones off rather than listen to her miserable performance.
