I enjoyed this book/story very much. I did find it a little difficult to keep track of how everyone was related and I'm wondering if that would have been easier if I would have read the book then listened??

This topic area had so much potential for a great book but this one feel short for me. While I finished it, I didn't look forward to listening to it. Plus the narration wasn't good...might have been part of my lack of interest. the narration sounded overly excited, even during serious or sad areas in the book. just ok, won't recommend to others though.

Story
For Susan Green, messy emotions don’t fit into the equation of her perfectly ordered life. She has a flat that is ideal for one, a job that suits her passion for logic, and an “interpersonal arrangement” that provides cultural and other more intimate benefits. But suddenly confronted with the loss of her mother and the news that she is about to become a mother herself, Susan’s greatest fear is realized. She is losing control.

While I did finish this book to see if it would get any better, I can safely say I will never recommend it to anyone. The characters behaved and thought like toddlers, although they were mid-40s.

Weaving a vibrant tapestry of fact and fiction, Into the Wilderness sweeps us into another time and place...and into the heart of a forbidden, incandescent affair between a spinster Englishwoman and an American frontiersman. Here is an epic of romance and history that will captivate readers from the start.

I did enjoy this story and I look forward to continuing the series but I do hope the sexy scenes reduce in future books. I do not believe I'm a prude at all, I just don't need that in books to keep my attention. I find good writing/authors can find other ways to keep readers engaged...but I also understand this is my preference so others may desire it.

I love this book so much, I'm putting together a book club so I can read and discuss this book with others. While it is a love story, it makes you think about race and identity, what's socially acceptable and shunned in different cultures, and the struggles some must overcome while others seem to float through life. I'm looking forward to rereading this book and digging deeper into the thoughts provoked by this book.

This was a well written book. I like books that make me think - what would I do in this situation? Overall the narration was fine after I turned the speed on 1.5. I would recommend this book if you like historical fiction and WWII specifically.

Story
It is the turn of the 18th century in Frankfurt, Germany, and young Gutle and Meir Amschel Rothschild struggle to establish themselves in the cramped, restricted Judengasse. But when Meir’s talents as a novice banker catch the attention of a German prince, Meir is afforded entrée into the European world of finance and nobility, and the Rothschilds’ lives are changed forever. As proud as Gutle is of her husband’s success, she is also cautious - very much aware of the fact that her husband’s rise is tied to his patrons’ willingness to “see past” his Jewishness.

The story was fine, interesting enough to keep me going but never made me think about it throughout the day. But I was annoyed by the amount of skips in the audio of this book. we have technology to fix this. Because of this, I would not recommend to friends.

Story
Tawawa House in many respects is like any other American resort before the Civil War. Situated in Ohio, this idyllic retreat is particularly nice in the summer when the Southern humidity is too much to bear. The main building, with its luxurious finishes, is loftier than the white cottages that flank it, but the smaller structures are better positioned to catch any breeze that may come off the pond. And they provide more privacy, which best suits the needs of the Southern white men who vacation there every summer.

"My father had more than 50 children." So begins the haunting memoir of Anna LeBaron, daughter of the notorious polygamist and murderer Ervil LeBaron. With her father wanted by the FBI for killing anyone who tried to leave his cult - a radical branch of Mormonism - Anna and her siblings were constantly on the run with the other sister-wives. Often starving and always desperate, the children lived in terror. Even though there were dozens of them together, Anna always felt alone.
