Story
Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College-Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

Personally I’m a huge fan of Rebecca Soler’s narration- I hope she continues to read the rest of the series.

Story
These 24 lectures are a vibrant introduction to the primary characters and most important stories of classical Greek and Roman mythology. Among those you'll investigate are the accounts of the creation of the world in Hesiod's Theogony and Ovid's Metamorphoses; the gods Zeus, Apollo, Demeter, Persephone, Hermes, Dionysos, and Aphrodite; the Greek heroes, Theseus and Heracles (Hercules in the Roman version); and the most famous of all classical myths, the Trojan War.

Fantastic

This title is everything I wanted when I read the description, and I’m only halfway through. The lecturer is funny and knows her subject very well. The only thing I have an issue with are the chapter titles- they are a lecture behind what they should be.

Perfect narrator for this book.

This was a joy to listen to, but sometimes Howl is a little too much and the ending seemed ever so slightly rushed together.

Story
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

Interesting concept, not enough follow through
Reviewed: 04-27-19
I enjoyed the concept but the author didn’t explore the world that he had written his characters into enough. There were a few mentions about how it had influenced everyday life but never enough to quench the feeling of wanting a more thorough explanation. The ending felt flat to me and I never became attached or very interested in the characters.
I enjoyed Zachary Quinto’s narration but some of his character voices bleed through into the next character, which is slightly distracting. I would listen to another audiobook narrated by him.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is just looking to kill a couple hours, but doesn’t much care what those hours go to. I don’t know that I would read or listen to another John Scalzi book.
