Story
In My Battle against Hitler, von Hildebrand tells of the scorn and ridicule he endured for sounding the alarm when many still viewed Hitler as a positive and inevitable force. He tells how he defiantly challenged Nazism in the public square, prompting the German ambassador in Vienna to describe him to Hitler as "the architect of the intellectual resistance."

Fascinating and Significant
Reviewed: 11-19-23
The memoir in Part One is informative and highly interesting. The essays from the 1930s in Part Two are tremendously valuable — not only as historical documents but perhaps even more so for the present day. The narration is excellent.

Nice story, good but not spectacular

Nice story.
It pleasantly has no sleaze.
But it is not a gripping mystery or an exciting romance.

Story
Evelyn Waugh's most celebrated work is a memory drama about the intense entanglement of the narrator, Charles Ryder, with a great Anglo-Catholic family. Written during World War II, the story mourns the passing of the aristocratic world Waugh knew in his youth and vividly recalls the sensuous pleasures denied him by wartime austerities; in so doing it also provides a profound study of the conflict between the demands of religion and the desires of the flesh.

Caedellium is too small, despite innovations by Yozef Kolsko (Joseph Colsco) and Mark Kaldwel (Caldwell), humans cast away on the planet Anyar. Allies are needed. Campaigns to be planned. Risks to be taken. For Yozef Kolsko, it means assuming roles he never imagined or believed himself capable. Anyar will never be the same.

Joseph Colsco has survived what many would not have - cast naked on an alien planet amidst humans speaking an unknown language and with a different culture and history. Now, known to the people of Caedellium as Yozef Kolsko, he has risen out of despair to prominence and finds himself a central figure in the culmination of a struggle against an imperialist power bent on subjugation. The clans of the Island of Caedellium must gird themselves for what is to come.

Suspenseful, Enjoyable, Interesting/ Print a Map
Reviewed: 11-21-22
For listening to Bk. 4 of this terrific series, I recommend printing out maps of Caedellium and Anyar. Having a visual sense of the geography of the island, in particular, will help the story in Bk. 4 make more sense. There are free maps at the author‘s website.
Terrific story. High quality work by the narrator.

Unusual, Interesting Story
Reviewed: 06-23-22
The story was much more interesting than I expected from reading past reviews. It’s original and it is like a puzzle.
I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 because the historian character Matt is flat and the budding romance with him felt unconvincing. The reader is very good except for the voicing of this character. But those are minor qualms. The main characters and the storyline are interesting.

The responses in this rosary are by a group of people who are at various distances to the microphone so they sound disjointed. Poorly produced with very poor audio quality. This recording is unworthy to be sold at Audible.

Well Researched, Important Book
Reviewed: 01-12-22
The content, packed with archival research, is very interesting and provides a valuable contribution to understanding 20th and early 21st century American political history. The book is well organized and well written. While the style of the audio reading didn’t fit my preference, I didn’t find it as annoying as some reviewers describe. At least the audio quality is good and the reader was clearly well prepared.
