About this listen

The Narthon Empire and an Iraquinik member, Kolinka, made a mistake.

They tried to kill or capture Yozef Kolsko. The possibility that Caedellium could have peaceful years going forward is refuted. The key is bringing down Narthon. But how?

Caedellium is too small, despite innovations by Yozef Kolsko (Joseph Colsco) and Mark Kaldwel (Caldwell), humans cast away on the planet Anyar. Allies are needed. Campaigns to be planned. Risks to be taken.

For Yozef Kolsko, it means assuming roles he never imagined or believed himself capable.

Anyar will never be the same.

An absolute and grossing read!

I tell you, every new entry into the series just sucks you in more and more. I found it impossible to stop listening to this book. The character development, and the progression of the story really draws the reader in. I really appreciate to how we get the perspective of so many of the characters in the various settings and scenes. And that ending was a doozy!

Not much happened

The story was just your basic battle and logistic type. It contained some interesting perspective on how the advanced weapons were perceived by the enemy but not nearly enough. Josef and the other earthlings hardly had any character progression. Just felt like a really long placeholder. I definitely want more to the story and the last 2 minutes did wet my appetite but another story like this one and I'm probably done with the series. That's unfortunate since this was probably my favorite ongoing series.

Increasingly more enthralled with this series plot

An outstanding addition to a series that I hope to continue expanding. It's like a continuous gift for sci-fi fans. I am looking forward to Volume-9, which will probably address the new Narthonian threat in southern Langolin. BRAVO!
P.S. As already indicated at Mr. Thorensen's media sites, there could be fascinating plots regarding Narthonian court intrigue, operating under the close threatening gaze of the almighty (Inquisition-style) clergy...

Unique twist on an old plot line

I just finished this, the eighth book in the series. What a great read, what a great series. The detail that Olan Thorensen uses in these novels is amazing and thought provoking. What and how would a 20th Century chemist introduce into a society that was 200 years behind him in development? Thorensen provides the details in an entertaining and attention engaging manner. I was constantly thinking; what is going to happen next? Besides introducing advanced technology, the main character is sympathetic, thoughtful and careful. The introduction of more modern weapons and the description of battles was especially engaging.

My only criticism is that at times there were so many characters, that is was difficult to keep track. The Audible reader was excellent and able to use many different accents and voices for the various characters which may have helped compared to the text version of the books (I only listened to the Audible version of the books). Similar to the many characters criticism, is the interpersonal details can at times make the story drag. Luckily this slowing the the plot was a very small portion of the overall story lines throughout the books.

I highly recommend the whole series.

Exciting, end leaves you wanting more

This is an exciting story that kept me interested from beginning to end. I think I liked this book somewhat less than the previous 7 in the story, but only somewhat. There’s less science and engineering but more battle. The ending was a cliff-hanger and I’m now left waiting fairly impatiently for the next book.
