This story was mind-blowing on so many levels. I just finished and I’m going to need some time to ruminate… Don’t listen to the reviews claiming this is man-hating, feministic sludge - just come take a listen for yourself 😉
Bravo, Kirsten Miller! And, as always, perfect narration by January LaVoy!

Not my favorite NR novel and definitely not my favorite narrator - the storyline started off good and then went flat. The narrator didn’t help, with her almost mechanical speech.
I wouldn’t recommend this title.

Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Except my shiny new website is glitching, and my inner rage-monster is ready to scorch some earth...when he finally picks up. Not the robot voice I expected but a real live human named Kal.

Story
One weekend, while Andrew Mason was on a fishing trip, his wife, Brie, vanished without a trace. Most everyone assumed Andy had got away with murder—it’s always the husband, isn’t it?—but the police could never build a strong case against him. For a while, Andy hit rock bottom—he drank too much to numb the pain, was abandoned by all his friends save one, nearly lost his business, and became a pariah in the place he once called home.

I really enjoyed this title, even though I suspected “who-dunnit” early on, it didn’t take away from the suspense, there were still so many dots to connect. The story was engaging and held my attention the whole way through!
The narration was great, the dialogue in the interview scenes with the detective were odd, they seemed very rehearsed and unnatural, but those were few and far in between so were not too bothersome. I don’t mind a multicast of narrators either, and it wasn’t overly dramatized.
This was my first time with this author, I was not disappointed! Worth the listen!

I finished this listen in less than 24 Hours, it was just so captivating! This was my first book by Mary Kubica, I’m excited for more from this author.
There are so many aspects of this book that will stay with me forever, and images that the author created that I will never forget. And having had a terrible experience with L&D of my last baby, I found comfort in Meredith’s character and now wish I had had a Doula (a small aspect of the story, but one that touched me deeply).
Local Woman Missing is full of twists, and the end is not what you expect, but oh the thrill of the ride! Highly recommend!

I like more of a paranormal type of horror story, this is sci-fi GORE. If you’re into people being ripped apart and mutilated than this is for you! I had to skip through some scenes because it just became too much.
The narrator was pretty good, he had great energy, however I didn’t care much for the voices he created for the human characters, they were a bit whiny.
Overall - not terrible but not really my cup of tea.

As she gets to know the residents and staff of the Bartholomew, Jules finds herself drawn to fellow apartment sitter Ingrid. Oddly familiar, couldn’t wait for it to be over…
Reviewed: 06-09-22
Our main character is also the narrator, told in the
first person. I am not sure whether the author’s writing is to blame or if the narrator is to blame, but our main character is melodramatic and honestly, quite stupid.
She is supposed to be believed as some kind of heroine, which is laughable.
I was so bored by this story, I just kept hoping it would end soon. The last few hours were the most interesting part, and even if we considered the majority of the story to be rated a 1 for interest, the last few hours would maybe be a 2.5
There were strange similarities to Netflix’s “Archive 81”, although both stories are, overall, very different.
Based on this title, I am not interested in reading/listening to any more of Riley Sager‘s books, nor do I desire to listen to Dylan Moore narrate. To make it through this book without losing my mind, I had to set the speed at 1.3
Not a fan!

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

WOW!!! I loved this book SO MUCH, I am in absolute awe of Andy Weir’s writing talent. This was one of the most brilliant stories I think I’ve ever “read”, seriously, it’s THAT good. And Ray Porter, bravo!!
This book captivated my interest from start to finish, I laughed, I cried, and I laughed some more. It touches your heart and brings out an excitement that most stories can’t even tap into.
I am officially a huge fan of this author. This was my first book by him and now I am excited to check out all of his writings.
There truly is something special about a first person narration, especially when your character is experiencing something out-of-this-world (literally).
If you want an adventure you’ll never forget, than take a ride on the Hail Mary, you won’t regret it!

Story
From the day that old Nana Reja found a baby abandoned under a bridge, the life of a small Mexican town forever changed. Disfigured and covered in a blanket of bees, little Simonopio is for some locals the stuff of superstition, a child kissed by the devil. But he is welcomed by landowners Francisco and Beatriz Morales, who adopt him and care for him. As he grows up, Simonopio becomes a cause for wonder to the Morales family, because when the uncannily gifted child closes his eyes, he can see what no one else can - visions of all that’s yet to come, both beautiful and dangerous.

Incredibly Slow but Enjoyable
Reviewed: 03-18-22
If you have the patience for a sloooow burn than you may enjoy this story like I did. Although not my favorite, I don’t mind an occasional snail-paced story.
If this were made into a movie I think it would become a classic like The Color Purple or Driving Miss Daisy.
There’s not a lot to digest in this title, it’s just one that you let flow over you. It’s sad but not depressing, there’s turmoil but it’s not overwhelming, there’s a twinge of fantasy, but you just accept it “as is” for the character effected. It flows like honey, which is appropriate to the title, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

I found this story to be so relatable, the characters very much likable (save for a few), and the narration was terrific!
How is it relatable, you ask? Going against the flow of what is socially acceptable to remain true to yourself. It’s not easy, most just go with the flow to avoid conflict, but those who choose to push for what they believe in/desire have many obstacles to overcome. This story struck me deep down as I found myself connecting with the main character’s emotions as she fought for what she desired most. It also made me think about, with great appreciation, what the women before us went through to carve the way for the women’s rights that we now have.
Moira Quirk did an amazing job, I was never confused of who was speaking and I actually forgot that she was the only narrator. I was able to just immerse myself into the story, which was nice.
This was my first time with this author and I’m very pleased, I’m going to go look right now at their other titles. Thank you, C. Polk!
