Story
Born the son of Scotland's last telescope-maker, Stuart Braithwaite was perhaps always destined for a life of psychedelic adventuring on the furthest frontiers of noise in MOGWAI, one of the best loved and most ground-breaking post-rock bands of the past three decades. Modestly delinquent at school, Stuart developed an early appetite for 'alternative' music in what might arguably be described as its halcyon days, the late '80s.

Great stories from a great guy from a great band. I love that Stuart reads it himself. I’ve met him twice and he is a wonderful down to earth guy. I love that the book comes across the same way.

Story
William Pepper was James Earl Ray's lawyer in the trial for the murder of Martin Luther King, Jr., and even after Ray's conviction and death, Pepper continues to adamantly argue Ray's innocence. This myth-shattering expose is a revised, updated, and heavily expanded volume of Pepper's original best-selling and critically-acclaimed book of the same name, with 26 years of additional research included. The result reveals dramatic new details of the night of the murder, the trial, and why Ray was chosen to take the fall for an evil conspiracy.

Thoroughly researched, devastating conclusions.

Amazing research from someone close to all the key players. I never found it boring but it does repeat itself several times for clarity's sake. It lays out the "accepted story" and then dismantles it. Then it lays out the various theories and finds the most likely path to our awful fate.

A great book. Woody spares no detail.

Fantastic book and Woody spares no detail. He delves into the accusation and all the details of his marriage to his Soon-Yi. Like his movies, it's funny, it's sad and always entertaining. I thought I knew everything about Woody. Turns out some of the "facts" I thought I knew were wrong.

Story
April 25, 1986 in Chernobyl was a turning point in world history. The disaster not only changed the world’s perception of nuclear power and the science that spawned it, but also our understanding of the planet’s delicate ecology. With the images of the abandoned homes and playgrounds beyond the barbed wire of the 30-kilometer Exclusion Zone, the rusting graveyards of contaminated trucks and helicopters, the farmland lashed with black rain, the event fixed for all time the notion of radiation as an invisible killer.

Empire of the Summer Moon spans two astonishing stories. The first traces the rise and fall of the Comanches, the most powerful Indian tribe in American history. The second entails one of the most remarkable narratives ever to come out of the Old West: the epic saga of the pioneer woman Cynthia Ann Parker and her mixed-blood son, Quanah, who became the last and greatest chief of the Comanches.

Story
Smart, hilarious, and incisive, the Liberal Rednecks confront outdated traditions and intolerant attitudes, tackling everything people think they know about the South - the good, the bad, the glorious, and the shameful - in a laugh-out-loud funny and lively manifesto for the rise of a New South. Home to some of the best music, athletes, soldiers, whiskey, waffles, and weather the country has to offer, the South has also been bathing in backward bathroom bills and other bigoted legislation.

This was great book. Way better than I imagined. Having the authors read it made it so genuine. Whether you’re a liberal or nit and regardless if you’re from the South or not, you will enjoy this book. It’s funny, it’s serious and it just might make you a cry. Great, great job, boys. This was hittin’!!

Story
Over the course of a 30-year career, Eddie Izzard has proven himself to be a creative chameleon, inhabiting the stage and film and television screens with an unbelievable fervor. Born in Yemen and raised in Ireland, Wales, and postwar England, he lost his mother at the age of six. In his teens he dropped out of university and took to the streets of London as part of a two-man escape act; when his partner went on vacation, Izzard kept busy by inventing a one-man act, and thus a career was ignited.

Fantastic. The book is read by Eddie himself and he constantly stops to add "footnotes". It's more like him riffing on what is in the book. Each one with have you smiling, giggling or laughing out loud, like for real, not LOL.
This is what audiobooks SHOULD be. If you love Eddie and his type of humor you should get this. Even if you already have the book, you NEED this. This has to be, hands-down the best purchase I have ever made on Audible.

Cured is not only the first insider account of the early days of the band, it is a revealing look at the artistic evolution of the enigmatic Robert Smith, the iconic lead singer, songwriter, and innovative guitarist at the heart of The Cure. A deeply rebellious, sensitive, tough, and often surprisingly "normal" young man, Smith was from the start destined for stardom, a fearless nonconformist and provocateur who soon found his own musical language through which to express his considerable and unique talent.

If you liked The Cure, you will love this book. It is the story of two friends and the band they created. It is also the story of a man and his personal battles with alcoholism. He does not hold back. He also does not blame anyone. It is a story of redemption and eventually victory.
