Story
Meredith and Nina Whitson are as different as sisters can be. One stayed at home to raise her children and manage the family apple orchard; the other followed a dream and traveled the world to become a famous photojournalist. But when their beloved father falls ill, Meredith and Nina find themselves together again, standing alongside their cold, disapproving mother, Anya, who even now, offers no comfort to her daughters.

Heartbreakingly beautiful!
Reviewed: 05-05-25
I cried a ton. I’m a big ol’ sap anyways, but this was a heartbreaking story that had a bittersweet ending. I would consider myself an emotional person, so I cried through the happiness and the painful parts. It was truly an eye-opening read as I have never read anything on that period before, so I am grateful to have read that and to understand a little more of that struggle. This is my second Kristin Hannah book, so I am pretty hooked and will be reading more of her work!

Last 1/3 of the book made the whole experience!
Reviewed: 05-21-24
Oh my. This book was so hyped up and I was so eager to try this, but as unique as this storyline was, I was so bored! I pushed through because I hate wasting money/credits, and I’m glad I did because the last 1/3 FINALLY picked up for me! Enough to get book two, and I really hope it keeps this momentum!

Great story!

I didn’t expect this to be a sort of murder mystery, but it was a very great story! My only dislike about this is the main narrator seemed to kids of whisper her character and ai had to will myself to move on from that. I have enjoyed Adrienne Young’s stories and this one was great! It was not a favorite, but it was really great thought-out story from many perspectives!

I finished the book, but this seemed like a very random book. The performance was fantastic, he did a great job. I'm personally unsure why most of the book was more like a dialog. I found myself drifting in thought during some of this seemingly meaningless dialog.

Not for me
Reviewed: 09-01-22
If this is a typical Sherlock Holmes book, than I'm probably just not big on this type of mystery. The deductive reasoning was too perfect and everything came together too perfectly for me to really get caught up in this tale. I was hoping for a plot twist in the end, but we knew the killer halfway through the book and I just lost interest. I finished the book, but begrudgingly.

As the 3rd installment to the trilogy, I was pleasantly suprised! Fiona Hardingham is my favorite Narrator, bringing so many characters to life. Legrand did an excellent job explaining the world, and very neatly bringing the story full circle. I was worried about how she would end this, but there were so many emotions!
