Story
Change is not Jenny Quinn's strong suit, but she's happy enough with her easy-going life, friends, and job as a TV production assistant. That is until a company shake-up foists the infuriating Olivia Sinclair on her. The woman is uptight, snobby, and has some perfect and famous motor-racing husband. TV and theater producer Olivia moved to New York from the UK to marry her longtime friend. It's a sham marriage, a favor to a man she loves as a brother, but the strain is beginning to take its toll.

A good book.

The burn wasn’t as slow as I would have liked but the story line was good and it was a quick “read.” Narration was good.

Good book. Not thrilled with narration

Good storyline. Long middle. Not my favorite book from this author. Narrators voice constantly ending every sentence with the same inflation was hard to listen too.

Loved the story, hated the charter voices.

Normally I love Angela Dawe’s narrations. However, the younger, tiny woman had the voice of an 80 year old chain smoker at times. I love a good deep voice but it got raspy a lot and took away from the character.

Betrayed and angry, she trades her meekness for a sword and embarks on a quest for vengeance that will lead her straight into the arms of the legendary Captain Maria Welles. Captain of the famed pirate ship, the Wicked Fate, Maria is every bit as treacherous and bloodthirsty as they say. She has her own vendetta and practically jumps at the chance to trick Emilia into joining her crew.

It’s a wonderful story of tension and love between two strong headed women. Thought the narrator did a great job. Book 2 can’t come fast enough.

Not the best voices
Reviewed: 01-23-21
The voice for Alex basically ruined this book for me. I wish the narrator had not tried to make Alex’s voice so deep with a forced southern accent. It could have been much more subtle and make the performance way better.

Narrator voices

The only complaint I have is that the narrator’s voice for one of the female characters is so deep that when she moves to male characters, it sounds straining and uncomfortable to listen too. It also makes it hard to hear.

A nice change of pace
Reviewed: 01-30-19
So many stories with Lesbian lead characters are all about lust and sex and carry a ridiculous storyline that is quite repetitive and boring. Not this book. I enjoyed the change of pace and journey into a new world. This book is about so much more than a relationship between two women. A mix between Game of Thrones and Frozen.... and performed extremely well by the readers!
