Story
Nicknamed "Mini-Man" for his diminutive stature, a mere five-foot-three and 125 pounds in his flight boots, chopper pilot Ron Alexander proved to be a giant in the eyes of the men he rescued from the jungles and paddies of Vietnam. With an unswerving concern for every American soldier trapped by enemy fire, and a fearlessness that became legendary, Ron Alexander earned enough official praise to become the second most decorated helicopter pilot of the Vietnam era. Yet, for Ron, the real reward came from plucking his fellow soldiers from harm's way, giving them another chance to get home alive.

Story
Deep down here by the dark water lived old Gollum, a small slimy creature. I don’t know where he came from, nor who or what he was. He was Gollum—as dark as darkness, except for two big round pale eyes in his thin face. He had a little boat, and he rowed about quite quietly on the lake; for lake it was, wide and deep and deadly cold.

Serkins really gives it everything in this recording. Still does the Gollum voice really well. If you liked the Hobbit to begin with get this

Story
Greece in the age of heroes. Patroclus, an awkward young prince, has been exiled to the kingdom of Phthia to be raised in the shadow of King Peleus and his golden son, Achilles. “The best of all the Greeks”—strong, beautiful, and the child of a goddess—Achilles is everything the shamed Patroclus is not. Yet despite their differences, the boys become steadfast companions. Their bond deepens as they grow into young men and become skilled in the arts of war and medicine—much to the displeasure and the fury of Achilles’ mother, Thetis, a cruel sea goddess with a hatred of mortals.

Really it's basically the Illiad plus the events leading up to it with a romantic twist. It's a nice refresher on the original tale plus very sweet

I really want to check out more of the universe after this. A lot of tension throughout. Narration did a good job with trying to give everyone a recognizable voice so you weren't lost on dialogue too.

Got this for free but it was a surprise. mixed in some suspense along with the romance. There are quite a few sex scenes but thankfully its balanced with some sentimental sweet exchanges too.

Good story but definitely wordy
Reviewed: 02-25-21
Considering predating Dracula it's at least interesting for the history. The actual story itself is more a suspense than straight up horror. It suffers from verbage though. The author really really loved throwing as much at you as possible, in an age where every word was your pay.

Four days before Christmas in 1943, a badly damaged American bomber struggled to fly over wartime Germany. At its controls was a 21-year-old pilot. Half his crew lay wounded or dead. It was their first mission. Suddenly a sleek, dark shape pulled up on the bomber’s tail - a German Messerschmitt fighter. Worse, the German pilot was an ace, a man able to destroy the American bomber with the squeeze of a trigger.
