Publisher's summary

A Warhammer 40,000 novel

When he discovers a prize that could change the face of the galaxy, disgraced Rogue Trader Janus Draik recruits a team to treasure-seeking misfits to claim it. But danger lurks in the darkness…

Listen to it because: The full story behind the Warhammer Quest: Blackstone Fortress game is revealed! Join Janus Draik and his crew as they venture into the depths of the fortress and encounter all manner of deadly foes.

The story: There are those in the great expanse of the galaxy that seek profit wherever it is to be found: the deal makers, the opportunists and explorers – the Rogue Traders. Granted power by an ancient charter, sanctioned by the Emperor Himself, these scoundrels, entrepreneurs and adventurers roam the galaxy in search of fortune and glory.

None perhaps are as hungry for these twin vices as Janus Draik. All but disowned by his wealthy family, regarded as a wayward son of ill repute and little potential, Draik knows he must restore his fortunes soon or his misadventures will see him destitute and discarded.

So it is then that when he finds a truly exceptional prize, one that will return him to his deserved station, Draik recruits a crew of fellow treasure seekers and sets them to the task. Draik's obsession is all-consuming, and he will risk everything to obtain his prize and its many secrets, including his life or even that of his crew.

Not bad, but forgettable

This feels like a tie in to the boardgame more than a book inspired by it. The consequences of actions never feel high. It wasnt the worst BL audio I've listen too, but certainly not the best. Ultimately a footnote in the lore of 40k

An enjoyable intro to the actual board game.

Well performed by a enjoyable voice. A story that goes beyond (or rather before) the events portrayed in the GW boardgame. This was a good and satisfactory listen. I only hope for more. Currently following up with the beast inside audio drama. Janis is a great character.yet I really enjoy the Kroot Grehk
All in all loved the whole character cast.

A few writing issues but overall very engaging

I frankly had a few issues with guessing some of the twists, but besides a few blunt writing choices, it really was an engaging story with a lot going for it.

Reminded me a lot of a movie I saw as a kid called "The Cube". A group of disparate characters essentially stuck in a deadly enigma, but with a nice 40k shade to it all.

Check it out if you like the enigmas and mysteries of the 40k galaxy, like rogue traders or even if you just want some insight on the Kroot and how the interact with humans.

Blackstone Fortress takes Warhammer to a new level

of the new warhammer 40k books this has been my favorite so far. Decent character development with a solid story. Definitely will be looking to read more about the blackstone and Janus Draik.

Blackstone Fortress Misteries

Very mysterious storyline, like an almost Indiana Jones story line, just grim dark. Characters were greatly written, background stories well written. The depth of the mysterious blackstone fortress just amaizes me, and I want more of this!
