Good

Found it to be a little convoluted at times. Scenes we're either described at length with great depth, or it happened in a casual instant. Still a good story, looking forward to seeing where the author takes it.

It's a week written book, except for story line of the MC is infuriating. She is so quick to alienate everyone close to her for unworthy saved selfish reasons, showing her inability to learn from past mistakes. Her lack of empathy for her friends is wild. I find her to be very unlikable. All of the other story lines are captivating. The narrator is fantastic.

Ignore the bad reviews

A lot of people like to complain that it gets too political. I don’t see it. If they’re talking about factions with internal struggles, I’d say get over it. It’s not a new concept and I think it brings a more believable dynamic to the world the author has built. If they’re talking about the couple of jabs made at America’s expense, how dare the author paint the greatest country in all the land in any negative light. Fantastical or not! 🙄 I know some people complained the main character spends a lot of time pondering about the moral righteousness of the decisions he’s made. I say those people lack in empathy. I say it’s a good listen. I look forward to the next installment.

Story
It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

Colonel Joe Bishop made a promise and he's going to keep it; taking the captured alien starship Flying Dutchman back out. He doesn't agree when the UN decides to send almost 70 elite Special Operations troops, hotshot pilots, and scientists with him; the mission is a fool's errand he doesn't expect to ever return from. At least, this time, the Earth is safe, right? Not so much.

In a world full to bursting with would-be heroes, Jim couldn't be less interested in saving the day. His fireballs fizzle. He's awfully grumpy. Plus, he's been dead for about 60 years. When a renegade necromancer wrenches him from eternal slumber and into a world gone terribly, bizarrely wrong, all Jim wants is to find a way to die properly, once and for all. On his side, he's got a few shambling corpses, an inept thief, and a powerful death wish. But he's up against tough odds....

Story
Deep below the University, there is a dark place. Few people know of it: a broken web of ancient passageways and abandoned rooms. A young woman lives there, tucked among the sprawling tunnels of the Underthing, snug in the heart of this forgotten place. Her name is Auri, and she is full of mysteries. The Slow Regard of Silent Things is a brief, bittersweet glimpse of Auri’s life, a small adventure all her own. At once joyous and haunting, this story offers a chance to see the world through Auri’s eyes.
