For welfare rats like Andrew Grayson, there are only two ways out of the crime-ridden and filthy welfare tenements: You can hope to win the lottery and draw a ticket on a colony ship settling off-world...or you can join the service. With the colony lottery a pipe dream, Andrew chooses to enlist in the armed forces for a shot at real food, a retirement bonus, and maybe a ticket off Earth.

I have looked forward to each New book. What am I going to do now that Joe Bishop and Skippy have saved earth.
This has been one of the most enjoyable series of books I've ever read
I can't tell you if it's because of RC Bray who read the audio version or because of Craig Alanson's unique writing style
The Merry Band of Pirates will sorely be missed
I spent many enjoyable hours driving my car and listening to the pirates go go from one crazy episode to another

After the Renegade mission by the crew of the starship Flying Dutchman, the UN Expeditionary Force thought Earth was safe for hundreds of years, at least. After there was trouble on the home front and the president had to authorize a nuclear strike on an American city, UNEF decided they did need the Merry Band of Pirates again. So, the Flying Dutchman is sent out on a simple recon mission. But for the pirates, nothing is ever simple, and their mission will become Armageddon.

and RC Brays interpretation of each character is off the charts
the interplay between our two main characters continues to amaze me. even though these books are long how he keeps his characters vibrant
