About this listen

After the Renegade mission by the crew of the starship Flying Dutchman, the UN Expeditionary Force thought Earth was safe for hundreds of years, at least.

After there was trouble on the home front and the president had to authorize a nuclear strike on an American city, UNEF decided they did need the Merry Band of Pirates again.

So, the Flying Dutchman is sent out on a simple recon mission. But for the pirates, nothing is ever simple, and their mission will become Armageddon.

Awesome

Loved it! The only thing missing was Skippy's use of the word Banahnah! Can't wait for the next installment!

AWESOMENESS

Once again Mr. Alanson did not disappoint. This was another great book in this truly amazing series. Mr. Bray's narration is simply magnificent and these two together you can't get any better. This story/series will undoubtedly become a huge success.

Skippy is becoming human

I love this series so much. There are so many great characters and author Craig Alanson has penned some incredible concepts and impossible problems begging for a wacky solution. I also really enjoy Alananson's writing style.

Some somplain that there is sometimes too much redundancy in the text. I can agree but I will also say that, even with that redundancy, there is still so much to enjoy. Joe and Skippy are the perfect odd couple - Bromance.

This book actually gets pretty emotional and tugged at my heart on several occasions and the story is beginning to really move forward in a direction that has a sense of arc.

Great, all around

This series is a must read!

Craig Alanson has completely won me over. I can’t wait for book 9. I have listened to every book in this series and have totally enjoyed every one of the. I have experienced a wide range of emotions throughout this series however, I had never experienced sadness until Armageddon and I cried like a baby. It’s crazy how you can be transported into these stories and nearly feel like you are a part of it. The performance by RC Bray is magnificent!!

Like the Flying Dutchman, This Story Is Wandering

I love the interplay between Joe Bishop and Skippy. I love RC Bray’s performance. I even love the basic format of these books as they go from easy mission, to complication, to “impossible odds”, to whacky solution and success. But with all of this hinting towards the larger situation with the Elders, and humanity’s eventual fate, I’m getting a bit tired of when this story will tie things up and resolve. It would be nice if over the course of eight books now, we got more than just questions about Skippy’s larger self and the Elders and for once got Joe to live up to his promise to Skippy. I just can’t figure out how many more of these books there will be until this is resolved and I really with these reveals has been spread out more.

Good book. Fits the format. But like the Flying Dutchman it continues to wander aimlessly about its own universe.
