Waited 6 months... wtf
Reviewed: 11-24-22
Let me preface this by saying I’m a huge fan of the series, that being said… what in the actual f*** I seriously waited half a year, 184 days to be exact, for this. What happened to 17+ hours of listening time like the original Galaxy’s Edge? I’m beyond disappointed that I’ve waited since May for a 10 hour audiobook that’s really around 8 when you factor out the ridiculous last 2 hours of filler with the author.
Here’s some numbers, I waited 1/2 a year for 4/5 a book that is also 1/2 of what Galaxy’s Edge used to be. Love the series but this is ridiculously disappointing. I never thought I’d ever 1 star this…

Story
They were the Savages. Raiders from our distant past. Elites who left Earth to create tailor-made utopias aboard the massive lighthuggers that crawled through the darkness between the stars. But the people they left behind on a dying planet didn't perish in the dystopian nightmare the Savages had themselves created: they thrived, discovering faster-than-light technology and using it to colonize the galaxy ahead of the Savages, forming fantastic new civilizations that surpassed the wildest dreams of Old Earth.

Tyrus Rechs
Reviewed: 03-20-21
Tyrus wants to trust this "collective" of people who want to do good regardless of politics or optics. But he'd want to meet those working behind the scenes to make sure they really are honest, good, and most importantly to verify legitimacy. Tyrus trusts himself because thats all life has shown him he can truly rely on. Those people who want him to join them because they want his abilities, but they to prove themselves the same way he needed to prove his character through actions and observations. Otherwise Tyrus is perfectly ok with remaining an island and trusting the one person he knows will get the job done. He is only 1 man so he will at least listen during the meeting because he is just an island and one man wars are just that.

Overall I love the books but this one just didn't bring it home for me. Botched the ending for me to say the least. A more liberal opinion would be that it was a pretty big flop regarding the ending

Story
The Marine Corps is known for its heroes, and Lieutenant General Lewis B. Puller has long been considered the greatest of them all. His assignments and activities covered an extraordinary spectrum of warfare. With his bulldog face, barrel chest (which earned him the nickname Chesty), gruff voice, and common touch, Puller became - and has remained - the epitome of the marine combat officer. Author Jon Hoffman has been given special access to Puller's personal papers as well as his personnel record. The result will unquestionably stand as the last word about Chesty Puller.

Story
It is difficult to find another soldier's story to equal Captain Darrell Watt's in terms of time spent on the field of battle and challenges faced. Even by the lofty standards of the SAS and Special Forces, one has to look far to find anyone who can match his record of resilience and valor in the face of such daunting odds and with resources so paltry. In the fight, he showed himself to be a military maestro. After 12 years in the cauldron of war, his cause slipped from beneath him, and Rhodesia gave way to Zimbabwe.
