About this listen

The greatest conflict the galaxy has ever known....

They were the Savages. Raiders from our distant past. Elites who left Earth to create tailor-made utopias aboard the massive lighthuggers that crawled through the darkness between the stars. But the people they left behind on a dying planet didn't perish in the dystopian nightmare the Savages had themselves created: they thrived, discovering faster-than-light technology and using it to colonize the galaxy ahead of the Savages, forming fantastic new civilizations that surpassed the wildest dreams of Old Earth.

Until the Savages came in from the Darkness....

When a Savage hulk lands on glittering New Vega, one of the crown jewels of the post-Earth galaxy, a coalition of planetary governments amasses their forces to respond to the post-human Savage Marines who've come to sack and enslave. But what the coalition forces find is something far more sinister than the typical Savage hit-and-run: this time, the Savages have come to stay.

Witness the intense beginning of The Savage Wars, the epic conflict, built into the lore of Galaxy's Edge, that will encompass over a thousand years of brutal fighting. Only the greatest military force in the galaxy can bring this war to an end...and the galaxy will never again be the same.

Experience the beginning of the Legion. Experience the Savage Wars.

Featuring an unforgettable performance by Stephen Lang (Avatar, Gods & Generals), Jason Anspach and Nick Cole explore the thrilling, desperate, and brutal war that forever shapes the galaxy....

Words can’t express...

... how good this is.

Since the Galaxy’s Edge has started it’s been getting better and better.

How a military sci-fi series can involve so much humanity and feeling. It is a very unique thing.

Characters are so well developed, even the bad guys have feelings.

The narrator just fits this book and series.

Good grief, what an awesome thing this is.

Tyrus is Back!

This new season of Galaxy’s Edge goes back to a time before the Legion. Questions are answered. Origins are revealed. It’s gritty, battle fighting from beginning to end. Fans of the series won’t want to miss it. Those new to the series could start here, but I’d recommend starting at with Legionnaire. The first part of this one can be a little daunting as it deals with a lot of battle tactics and less on characterization. But the payoff in the second half is worth it. And Stephen Lang does a fantastic job!

Tyrus Rechs: Full of Surprises

Because of the non-stop action this story pulls you in right away. Stephen Lang’s narrative is so very good. He does an excellent job as he changes his tone for each character.
The story itself pulls you in like a tractor beam and never lets go. I really loved the characters: Tyrus Rechs, Col. Marks, Casper Sulla, Captain Davis, and I really loved the wild man. I don’t know if the authors identify more with the wild man or Tyrus Rechs.
Can Tyrus save the wild man? Can Tyrus save New Vega? Can Tyrus save himself? One must listen and decide for themselves, because like I said Tyrus Rechs in the Savage Wars is full of surprises!!

Begun the Savage Wars have!

The Savage Wars kick into full gear in this epic story narrated by THE Tyrus Rechs, Stephen Lang. This story features a great cast of new (and maybe even some old) characters. The battle at New Vega plays out like a movie in my head as Stephen Lang delivers an outstanding performance of yet another top-notch story written by Nick and Jason. A great jumping on point for new listeners to the GE series, and fans of the series already will love the easter eggs, callbacks, and characters mentioned or featured in previous books. I can't wait to see how it all plays out in the next two books of this already memorable trilogy. Do another one babe....

Do another one.

This has been another fantastic installment in the GE series. Stephen Lang does a fairly decent job. Sure, he doesn't have a lot of tone differences, but keep in mind this man is not a voice actor. We are often spoiled with narrations from Ray Porter and RC Bray. Lang does an awesome job of delivering a gritty story in a gritty manner. Don't let these snobs ruin your chance of exploring the galaxy.

Great narration

I really enjoyed the narration here, despite what others mention. Appreciate the rougher feel to it, savage wars and all.

R.C. Bray is well liked, as well he should be, but Stephen Lang fits well here.

Great story

I asked for more history in this universe and this book provides. A very very good story and exactly the type of stuff I expect from this series....Keep Karen Traviss away from these!

Wicked good!

I know a lot of people are saying they don't like the narrator, I think he's perfect for the tone of the book. I loved everything about this book. This is my first Galaxies Edge books so I can't speak for them all but, this series is definitely worth listening to. I just wish they were longer 😊

I've been waiting and waiting to hear more about the Savage Wars. I think this is a great intro into the many backstories that have made the Galaxy Edge series.
