All Time Favorite Series
Reviewed: 03-28-25
I have read thousands of Sci Fi and fantasy novels. This is my favorite series of all timw, by a wide margin.
I listened to all 7 books and then immediately started relistening to the series. I have NEVER wanted to reread a book immediately before.
The world building is amazing. The writing is superb. There is excellent character development. I am genuinely invested in the characters.
The narration is spectacular. it is unreal how many voices Jeff Hayes can do.

Story
The ratings and views are off the chart. The fans just can't get enough. The dungeon gets more dangerous each day. But in a grinder designed to chew up and spit out crawlers by the millions, Carl and Princess Donut need to work harder than ever just to survive. They call it the Over City. A sprawling, once-thriving metropolis devastated by a mysterious calamity. But these streets are far from abandoned. An undead circus trawls the ruins. Murdered prostitutes rain from the sky. An ancient spell is finally ready to reveal its dark purpose.

Story
A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Lives Up to the Hype and Beyomd

I found this book because it has a fanbase that is very active on Reddit. I am in my early 50s and grew up reading Sci Fi And fantasy voraciously.
I knew the premise of this series going in. I thought it would be amusing. I did not expect the writing to be so great.
The characters are very well developed. The world building is phenomenal. The pacing is great. The payoffs after the tension builds are rewarding.
I bought the rest of the books in the series before I was even half way through this first book.
Without a doubt my favorite series out of the thousands of books I have read.
And the narration is unbelievably good. This is one for the ages.

Story
In Network of Lies, New York Times bestselling author Brian Stelter answers these questions by weaving together private texts, unpublished emails, depositions, and other primary sources to tell the chilling story of Trump’s alleged conspiracy to steal the 2020 election, and the right-wing media’s mission to put him back in office in 2024.

Interesting and important. I stayed up late listening to finish it. Very important insights into the toxic forces of Fox News and Tucker Carlson.
