Story
Madeline Brimley left small-town Georgia many years ago to go to college and pursue her dreams on the stage. Her dramatic escapades are many, but success has eluded her, leaving her at loose ends. But then she gets word that not only has her beloved, eccentric Aunt Rose passed, but she's left Madeline her equally eccentric bookstore housed in an old Victorian mansion in the small college town of Enigma. But when she arrives in her beat-up Fiat to claim The Old Juniper Bookstore—and restart her life—Madeline is faced with unexpected challenges.

Eye rolls

The narration was top notch but the storyline itself was pretty bad. Maybe I just don’t know how small towns operate but usually when a crime is committed the area is cordoned off and the police search for evidence, not let someone clean the area. I rolled my eyes way too much at this one.

Story
In the war-torn London of 1939, fourteen-year-old Hazel and five-year-old Flora are evacuated to a rural village to escape the horrors of the Second World War. Living with the kind Bridie Aberdeen and her teenage son, Harry, in a charming stone cottage along the River Thames, Hazel fills their days with walks and games to distract her young sister, including one that she creates for her sister and her sister alone—a fairy tale about a magical land, a secret place they can escape to that is all their own.

Amazing!

The story takes you on an emotional journey and then out of nowhere, the discoveries shake your core! It was magical! My only complaint was the narrator. Her voice was very soothing but the lack of variation made it a little tedious. I kept thinking about how much better it would’ve been with Imogen Church as the narrator.

Love this series… but…

Here’s the thing, I love how witty and silly this series is. Almost every character is relatable and you fall into this comfortable groove with them, except one. Melissa. At first, her character was ok, but somewhere around the second and third book her character progression became incredibly annoying. Other than that (and I do understand she’s a major character but still) I really did enjoy this book.

Story
Venus Thibodeaux had a reputation for being trouble. Some said she started at birth. When she finally left Sinful shortly after turning 18, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. When she blew back into town four years later, no one was happy about her return. She immediately launched into her same old scams, picking off Sinful residents with ease before disappearing again as quickly as she’d appeared.
