Story
Imagine a world where storms inundate coastal megacities. Entire species become extinct in an instant. And conflicts are fought over dwindling natural resources, food, and even shelter. The rapid pole shift resulting in the sudden reversal of the planet's magnetic field changed the face of the planet, forever. Rain fell for months. Ice melted. Waters rose. Land masses disappeared.

Story
London, 1888. As colorful and unfettered as the butterflies she collects, Victorian adventuress Veronica Speedwell can't resist the allure of an exotic mystery - particularly one involving her enigmatic colleague, Stoker. His former expedition partner has vanished from an archaeological dig with a priceless diadem unearthed from the newly discovered tomb of an Egyptian princess. This disappearance is just the latest in a string of unfortunate events that have plagued the controversial expedition, and rumors abound that the curse of the vengeful princess has been unleashed as the shadowy figure of Anubis himself stalks the streets of London.

The narrator is excellent and the story line is well developed. The solving of each mystery reminds me of Columbo..."just one more thing."

Story
Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King's Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

Took a While

It took me a while to get into this book, but the struggle paid off! In the beginning it was hard to keep all of the characters straight. I was told it is easier if you have the book with the maps and genealogy charts, but I did learn who all of the characters were in time.
There are so many interesting storylines in this book! Now I need to read Book 2 to find out what happened to everyone.

Story
The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night. But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway - a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors.

I read all of the reviews before listening to this book. They all claimed it to be the "next big thing". I do not agree. Probably the only reason why I made it through the whole book was the excellent narrator, Jim Dale. I found the storyline to be tedious and boring with too many loose ends never resolved. Hopefully, my next book to listen to will be another narrated by Mr. Dale.
