It’s not a good value but I do really enjoy this series. The only problem is wanting more or paying a full credit for it. But I did, since I’m enjoying this story so much

Great stuff

Thought I'd be done with these by now, but these short stories had me laughing out loud at times. I'm constantly impressed by the humor and wit of these books. Sure there's a ton of fart jokes, but the witty wording, the dialogue and distinct personalities of each of the characters are brilliant.

Story
Putting the Grand Quest behind them, the party rides onward in search of answers. Between one member's unexpected new condition and the mysteries of the Bridge, their only hope appears to be gaining entrance to Lumal, said to hold the greatest collection of knowledge in all the kingdoms. But when a curious path appears in a seemingly uninhabited forest, the party finds themselves in a place set apart from the kingdoms, and the world at large: a hidden hamlet, filled by unusual people, all of whom have long histories of their own.

Say "paladin" one more time, mutha....
Reviewed: 07-23-19
Great concept. Great story. I love the premise of these characters that defy stereotypes, BUT... You lost me when the paladin began to monologue in the middle of a battle. No, not that paladin the other one.... No, the other other one... No, not the father that was a paladin, the other other other paladin... Oh, hey, is the author maybe obsessed with paladins? Seriously, I wish he'd stop saying "paladin" every other paragraph. If you make a drinking game out of it and take a drink every time he says "paladin" or explains a paladin's motivations (yet again) you're going to end up in the hospital after half an hour.
But if you don't mind the characters monologuing about their motivations, and those motivations being based on their classes instead of their personalities and background, this is a really great story.

Story
Throughout the vast lands controlled by the Ironship Trading Syndicate, nothing is more prized than the blood of drakes. Harvested from captive or hunted Reds, Greens, Blues, and Blacks, it can be distilled into elixirs that bestow fearsome powers on the rare men and women known as the Blood-blessed. But not many know the truth: that the lines of drakes are weakening. If they fail, war with the neighboring Corvantine Empire will follow swiftly.

I've already recommended it to all my friends

Great story! There's a lot of action and intrigue, set in a fantasy setting like I've not read before. Normally I listen on my commute, but this story had my full attention, and I was making time to listen to it. Around halfway through the book I was already recommending it to all my friends.
As for the performance, I like Steven Brand's voice, but he doesn't do character voices. He has a great reading voice, but would've liked some differentiation between the characters.

Good series. I definitely recommend this book and the series. Clever humor, and intriguing plot lines.
Regarding the narration... When Gavin Guile is talking, try not to think of Crush from "Finding Nemo". Not sure why the narrator went with a surfer for the Prism, but he did

I enjoy Jim Butcher's style and humor.
Which character – as performed by Kate Reading – was your favorite?
Tavi
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Any additional comments?
Barely halfway through the book I purchased the next book, because I knew I was going to enjoy this series. I'm 2/3rds through the second book now and I know I was right.
