Story
How can an average climber do the hardest route in the world? Dave MacLeod wasn’t even the best among his fellow rock climbers in Glasgow, until a sequence of key decisions and influences catalysed his progression from an unremarkable intermediate to one of the best all-round climbers in the world. Dave shows that much of his advantage came from easily trainable skills or behavioural traits that could be replicated by any climber.

So much more than a biography

Dave is one of the most thoughtful top climbers and proves it in this book. I love that he narrated the audiobook himself.

Story
The universe is a dangerous place for humanity—and it's about to become far more dangerous. Three races that humans have clashed with before have allied to halt our expansion into space. Their linchpin: the turncoat military scientist Charles Boutin, who knows the CDF's biggest military secrets. To prevail, the CDF must find out why Boutin did what he did. Jared Dirac is the only human who can provide answers—a superhuman hybrid, created from Boutin's DNA, Jared's brain should be able to access Boutin's electronic memories.

Another great book by Scalzi

As always - intelligent plot, realistic characters and dialogues. No cliches, no long winded descriptions or sci-fi explanations. Simply a well crafted story.
And the narrator was great. Will Wheaton often performs Scalzis books, but he does not do that well when there is a larger number of characters. This narration was perfect.

Not my cup of tea

Cut out the military lingo, descriptions of different types of guns and ammo, and fight scenes, and what remains is an empty husk without much story or idea. Unless you are into the military stuff, it is probably not worth your time. I know it wasn't worth of mine.
