been waiting for years for this one. I reread the first two just to remind myself of everything that happened. It is an excellent combination of science fiction and political entry. Love the narrators in this one, love the story. And the characters are all characters I care about.

Runner has a problem. He and 499,000 men and women are trapped in a game. He also just happens to be the only person from IT who could log everyone out safely. And he doesn't remember his password. He, like everyone else in this nightmare, had his memory scrambled or lost in the process of being loaded into the game. A single garbled message is his only clue to how to save everyone. The problem is that whoever loaded them into the game loaded their minds completely.

When he was 19, James Stark was considered to be one of the greatest natural magicians, a reputation that got him demon-snatched and sent downtown - to Hell - where he survived as a gladiator, a sideshow freak entertaining Satan's fallen angels. That was 11 years ago. Now, the hitman who goes only by Stark has escaped and is back in L.A. Armed with a fortune-telling coin, a black bone knife, and an infernal key, Stark is determined to destroy the magic circle.

Good High Fantasy
Reviewed: 08-07-20
The first book is very long. It sets the stage for a much larger world in which the center lies Kvothe, an Arcanist, musician, and an all around Renaissance man who is both hero and villain depending on the source. Rothfuss has great panache in painting this story, and I generally loathe high fantasy. I have a new series in which I can put into my repeat repertoire.

Story
An 11-year-old boy's violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City's most popular citizens. He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon add DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.

Stephen King managed to captivate and terrify me.
Reviewed: 01-13-19
It is a sister sequel to Mr. Mercedes trilogy, but no less a good story. While normally quite verbose, Mr. King managed to get to the meat and potatoes and served up a wonderful story of intrigue and supernatural horror the likes of which would terrify Lovecraft himself. Full disclosure, Mr. King is a hero of mine so I might be slightly biased.

Decent Science Fiction
Reviewed: 12-06-18
The story was a little drawn out with not much world building. No history of space travel, focused on a family unit. The best laid plans went completely awry. Yet I want more despite the lack of world building.. MacLeod, the narrator, is one of my favorite narrators. I'll be picking up the next in the series just because of him.
