About this listen

Soon to be a major motion picture starring Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba!

In this fourth volume, Roland, Eddie, Susannah, and Jake survive Blaine the Mono's final crash, only to find themselves stranded in an alternate version of Topeka, Kansas, one that has been ravaged by the superflu virus. While following the deserted I-70 toward a distant glass palace, Roland recounts a story about a seaside town called Hambry, where he fell in love with a girl named Susan Delgado, and where he and his old tet-mates Alain and Cuthbert battled the forces of John Farson, the harrier who - with a little help from a seeing sphere called Maerlyn's Grapefruit - ignited Mid-World's final war.

the best yet

a prequel of a prequel ? I must admit I've come into this series very late .with that being said I love how things I've read and seen come together to make me even more interested In what happens next , and I didn't even think that could be possible.

Great story but...

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

No. Too much nastiness mixed in with a great story.

Have you listened to any of Frank Muller’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Other books in the Dark Tower series. He's brilliant.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Only the negative parts.

Any additional comments?

There is so much nasty sexual talk in this book that it distracts from the whole. I winced over and over again. The author takes everything to the nth degree. In an audible book, I can't skim over crude sections. I'm forced to listen to these sections-there's lots of them-and I felt like my senses were being slapped over and over again. The author is brilliant but the listener should beware.

Standalone

The fourth book in the Dark Tower series has always been a standalone novel for me. "Wizard and Glass" is all about Roland and his one true love and one step closer to the Dark Tower.

The love story between Roland and Susan is hard to put down. I like how Stephen King is so simple that he puts a love story in "Wizard and Glass." Well written piece. Almost makes my heart melt seeing Roland so soft for Susan Delgado. Her aunt sells her as a whore, but Roland sees her as his love. It still amazes me how Stephen King writes a nightmare and then the next page, a love story and they are all seamless.

This is what I missed for so long from Dark Tower and reading these books for the second time feels like catching up with a friend that you haven't seen for so long and talking about the past that you have forgotten. "Wizard and Glass" has always felt the end of the series for me. Roland is so close to the Tower, I never quite understood why SK wrote four more books after this one. He could had easily ended here and left the Constant Reader questioning what happened to the rest of the Ka-tet, but obviously he didn't.

Not bad for my first audio book.

Any additional comments?

Frank Muller has a very pleasant voice to listen to and his range of emotions really keeps you in the story and paying attention. My only complaints are his voices for any of the female characters and his voice for Eddie Dean. His female voices were almost in a mocking tone and I just didn't care for his accent and voice for Eddie. Other than those small complaints, I really enjoyed listening to him tell the story.

Frank Muller made this book!

I loved it! To see Roland as a child and his first days as a true Gunslinger was great. Well written and masterfully narrarated by the late Frank Muller.

Loved it!

Excellent sorry. Great narration throughout the book. Some editing errors about 2 hours from the end where a part of the story repeats and I BELIEVE as small part is cut out.

My first

The is my first book series to ever read, so far into. Not for the lack of trying. every thing I being when it comes to books always seem to lose my focus after the first or second. Mainly because of College studies , but even still I have been taken away by the story of Roland, and the idea of being in his world.
