Story
At the side of the most famous warlord of history, Matilda worked, not as a quiet, modest wife, but as a leader...as a ruler just as ruthless as her husband. Under her soft mask of beauty and modesty there lay the heart of a woman powered by ambition. A woman who was strong, courageous, and devious.... Through the eyes of one of the most extraordinary women of history unfold the events leading to the invasion of England and the battle that would decide its fate....

Dear Author,
thank you for a wonderful story !
Dear Narrator,
well done ! You ARE the voice of Matilda.
An unflinching and riveting portrayal of a woman of power and ambition, beautifully written.
Thoroughly engaging from the first 'page'.
Quite surprising to find myself so very much involved in the tale of Matilda, a woman whose values are so unlike my own.
William and Matilda.
Quite the love story.
Admirable in their own ways.
And in their own time.
Presented to us in rich detail and with depth.
Loved the details of the qualities of life.
From the most fine to the most brutal.
With never a drop into sensationalism.
Never feeling to be superfluous.
As the reader, I felt myself to be a privileged and respectful witness to another place, time and way of being.
And... I held my breath for the Battle of Hastings... never mind that the outcome is a matter of well-known historical record.
Brava !
Worthy of a standing ovation.

Dear Author :
I am pausing to review at chapter 4.
The series has been delightful.
Absolutely one of my favorites.
Thank you !
But I wrote today to express that
I am dearly missing YOUR VOICES.
This is particularly true for Vincent and Jane's father,
and, to a lesser extent, for Jane herself.
I will happily finish the book,
as I love it's world and characters,
and am already in suspense :)
But I am deeply missing
your wonderful voice portrayal of Vincent.
Current voice portrayal lacks the strength, depth, vulnerability, warmth and humor of your original.
I love your Vincent portrayal
as a model for a strong and tender man of integrity.
Thanks again for this fresh and inventive twist :) in the beloved English Regency genre.
