The Coven King prophecy is a sure thing, and every witch in Fresco City knows it by now. What's more, even the coastal super covens are growing aware. They're not happy. Yet. Give them time to warm up to him, though.

Sex with a hint of story.
Reviewed: 04-17-25
From the blurb on the book's page I was hoping for a little less sex and a touch more action against the super coven but honestly they are more a tiny annoyance than anything threatening.
I think the author has kinda written themselves into a situation where the MC is so brokenly powerful that nothing is a valid threat - and what should be a threat is just a vehicle to add to the MC's harem.
Gonna finish the 4th book since I'm this far in, but I don't foresee myself buying anything else from this author.
The narrators are amazing, however.

Story
In a world full of superpowers, Felix had a pretty crappy one. He has the ability to modify any item he owns. To upgrade anything. Sounds great on paper. Almost like a video game. Except that the amount of power it takes to actually change, modify, or upgrade anything worthwhile is beyond his abilities. At least, that was until Felix leveraged a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to give himself a great deal of points.

An ending not closed...
Reviewed: 11-19-23
No complaints except wishing it were a bit longer at the end. Would have loved something to verify if there was or wasn't going to be more with Felix and crew. Did he retain his original Power after his final choice or not? That type of stuff.
Had to dock a star for that, and for the fact to get the most out of it Save State Hero is required reading/listening. I'm not a fan of the new female narrator chosen for it and the fifth of Vince's series. Ah well, here is to hoping if a fourth book of Runner's series is released, Jeff Hayes or Nick Podehl will get to narrate it since Jeff did the original three, and Nick keeps voices pretty close to how another narrator made them.

Before World War II could reach its conclusion, the world suffered what could only be defined as a cataclysm. Legend has it that an experiment failed. Catastrophically so. And when it failed, the center of the United States, from the Sierra Nevada to the Mississippi river became "The Waste", where everything changed.

Random reader change?
Reviewed: 01-06-23
After writing so many books and having the same narrator for them, I do not understand the sudden need to change. The voices are drastically different and it just ruined it. Hopefully the author releases an updated version with the original narrator. Until then, refunding and not supporting this series further.

The illegal Monster Hunt app has definitely done a number on Chase Knowles’ life, transforming him from a down-on-his-luck musician to the Alpha of two incredible Huntresses. Along with his bandmate, Iris, the group has taken New York City by storm, hunting and brawling in the city’s landmarks and hard-to-reach spaces. But there is more to the Monster Hunt app than catch or sell. An exclusive world known as EverLife presents new challenges, new adventure, and a mystery that none have been able to solve. It also presents new foes.

Loved the first one.
Reviewed: 01-30-22
This one wasn't terrible but it did lack the fun of the first. Lady C's voice got even more whiney for some reason and having Mirror show up made me physically cringe. But that's because I hate her as a character. Otherwise it felt like the entire book was the first chapter being repeated in different ways and the abrupt ending that was suppose to feel like a cliff hanger was... meh.

Through the Monster Hunt app, Chase Knowles becomes the Alpha of two powerful Huntresses: one a half-dragon female fond of combat and banter, the other a cute warrior fond of reading spell books and wielding two killer blades. Their goal? Hunt these mythological creatures in the parks, rooftops, and back alleys of New York City; build a fighting party to compete in brawls and tournaments in the city and beyond; earn money; and try their damnedest not to get arrested.

Half of America hates me, and the other half wants me dead. Regardless, I've decided to turn a new leaf. Good guy Writer Gideon? Something like that. But with great power comes great responsibility, and with great power and killer women all around me.... Well, I don't really know a quote for that one. Point is: the Cherry Blossom Girls are changing things up. We're dressed to kill, pumped and primed, ready to spring into action at a moment's notice.

New narrator just... Didn't nail it.
Reviewed: 10-12-19
Could only manage a few minutes in before I knew that the fact they changed the narrator doomed the series for me. I guess I'll have to hope that Harmon Cooper doesn't change any more or I'll have to drop all his series. Not worth the risk of having a terrible voice change half way through a series forcing me to end up going without finishing all the books. Will be refunding.

I wish they didn't use his name so much. At times it felt clunky and like they were almost writing for someone who doesn't know how to follow dialogue. I can't remember a book I've read since kindagarden that does that.
Beyond the clunky repetition it was a great story and the performer reading it gets better over time with showing emotions in the right places! I highly suggest picking it up.
