Story
I only try on one of Nina’s pristine white dresses once. Just to see what it’s like. But she soon finds out...and by the time I realize my attic bedroom door only locks from the outside, it’s far too late. But I reassure myself: The Winchesters don’t know who I really am. They don’t know what I’m capable of....

“Secrets, Sass, and a Switch-Up You Won’t See Coming”
Reviewed: 04-15-25
Let me just say—whew! This book had me hooked from the very first chapter. The Housemaid by Frieda McFadden is an absolute rollercoaster ride of suspense, secrets, and jaw-dropping twists. I found myself sneaking in extra listening time whenever I could, just to find out what would happen next. This story had a grip on me!
McFadden masterfully builds tension in a way that makes you question everything—and everyone. The characters were compelling and layered, especially Millie. I loved how strong, vulnerable, and unpredictable she was all at once. And let’s talk about Nina… whew. The way her behavior shifts toward Millie? It’s like a switch flips, and suddenly you're not sure who’s friend, foe, or just plain unhinged. It keeps you on edge, in the best way.
The house itself practically had a pulse—moody, cold, and full of secrets. You can feel it pressing in as things start to spiral. And little Cecilia? That child gave me goosebumps. She’s got sass, secrets, and some serious "I'm watching you" energy. A total pint-sized wildcard!
The pacing was perfect, the atmosphere deliciously tense, and the audiobook narration brought everything to life so vividly, I felt like I was tiptoeing through that house with Millie, holding my breath at every turn.
If you're into psychological thrillers with smart writing and suspense that keeps you guessing till the end, this one is a must. I seriously couldn’t wait to press play every time. Frieda McFadden just earned herself a new fan!

Story
His real name was Earl Simmons. As a child, he placed higher on tests than his fellow students and liked to spend mornings with his mother and sisters playing games and making pancakes. But for young Earl - a boy growing up on the streets of Yonkers, New York - that kind of childhood didn’t last long. Beatings, abuse, and neglect very soon had him moving on to other things, like robbing, stealing, drugs, and, eventually, jail. Along the way, however, he found a talent and a passion for rhyme.
