About this listen

The only thing Maddy knows for certain is that he died.

I died. And I came here. To a place they call Two. They say one out of three people who die come here. Berlin is here. She’s seven. She forgot to take her insulin. Darrel is here. He drowned. Dr. Raleigh is here. He’s the head counselor at the Two Adjustment Facility (TAF) I’m at. He died in an avalanche. Perry Whitcomb is here. I connected with him on Deadbook, Two’s version of Facebook. He was on my soccer team in middle school. He collapsed during one of our games. And get this, Heath Ledger is here. (Yeah, the Joker, himself.) He just had a new movie come out.

Anyhow, it’s been a lot to handle, this new world, this second life, but I think I’m starting to come around. I was about to take the bar exam, for the third time, the day after I died. They say I can take it here. They say I can become a public defender just like I’d planned on. We’ll see. Sure, I’m starting to adjust, but I still have lots of questions: Why can’t women get pregnant here? Who are this group called “Borns” that no one will talk about? Why do They always seem to know exactly where you are every second of every day? I’m not certain of a lot these days, but I do know one thing for sure: there is a lot more to Two than people are telling.

Interesting premise

I’m rarely unaware how a story line will play out but Pirog always surprises me. Cool idea and nice narration

Amazing book - Couldn’t stop listening

I’m not really a sci-fi fan but I highly value Shelley’s Audible reviews and as usual, she nailed this one. This book has a great concept, great characters and dialogue and great narration. I can’t wait for the next one in the series!

Great Read - Need the next book ASAP! :D

Another fantastic Pirog, twisting storylines sprinkled with LOL moments, a little horror, and the questioning of all we know is fact. I'm still trying to work out what direction this storyline will go - there are so many possibilities! If you loved the 3 AM series, you will love this one too.

prejudice descriptions of other races

Author is definitely prejudice against black people. I hate when authors describe people without race (tall, short, fat, thin)but any other race is the first descriptor word. the way he keeps calling Darrel the" black man" was really getting on my nerves and of course he was drug dealer. And the other stereotypical black drug dealers drinking a 40 and the way they speak makes me wonder if the author has ever met any black people in his life. Yes I understand that the main character is white and grew up rich with in house staff doesn't excuse the way the author describes other raves. I'm so annoyed I won't be listening to anything else by this author.

Well, I Never

I liked the mystery of it all. The way information was revealed to the reader was intriguing. I thought it was really a stopping off point to the final destination. I didn’t dislike any of it.
