Story
A Great Winged One will soon arise and cast his fearsome shadow upon the land. And just as Night slays Day, and Day slays Night, so also shall another Black Witch rise to meet him, her powers vast beyond imagining. So foretells the greatest prophecy of the Gardnerian mages. Carnissa Gardner, the last prophesied Black Witch, drove back the enemy forces and saved her people during the Realm War. Now a new evil is on the horizon, and her granddaughter, Elloren, is believed to be Carnissa's heir—but utterly devoid of power in a society that prizes magical ability above nearly all else.

Reallly good read

Where does The Black Witch rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It ranks about in the above average.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Black Witch?
I liked the character building and the way the main character grows and matures.
Have you listened to any of Julia Whelan’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No
Any additional comments?
At times I found it a little slow - feel that too much time is spent on the main character lamenting about her non-power. I like it much better more toward the end where the action happens much quicker.

Yes normally I really enjoy her books.
Would you ever listen to anything by J. D. Robb again?
Yes, although I'm a little disappointed that these get a little to explicitly violent lately. I love the series I have read all of them thus far so will give it one more try.

Reviewed: 08-06-15
Would you consider the audio edition of The Girl on the Train to be better than the print version?
I didn't read it in print. I enjoyed the audio because I got the added advantage of having it read with British accents which gets you into the spirit of the book from the start.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes - it continued to draw me in!!
What about the narrators’s performance did you like?
All the narrator's did an excellent job.
Any additional comments?
The author has a very good grasp of the subject of alcoholism and the effects of blackouts! Also the way the author gets into the details of life is very real.

What made the experience of listening to Bitten the most enjoyable?
I really enjoyed the plot and the narrator did a very good job of interpreting the characters. Each character had their own unique voice and accent. The plot did get a little bogged down in places by seemingly monotonous monologue but in the end it was worth slugging through the slow places. I find that the author tends to do this in all her books - wish that could change in the future because I really do enjoy the stories.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Elena and Clay
What about Aasne Vigesaa’s performance did you like?
Yes, I thought she was excellent.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I enjoyed Elena's personal discoveries and development of her character.

Reviewed: 04-18-15
What made the experience of listening to Presumption of Guilt the most enjoyable?
The story is captivating. It kept me engaged from the beginning.
The narrator is good on the female voices but the male voices are lacking in authenticity and all males seem to sound similar and even the same.
What other book might you compare Presumption of Guilt to and why?
Not sure.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Tanya Eby?
I would cast Jennifer Ikeda. She has an amazing variety of voices that she can do especially male voices and accents.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I liked all of it.
Any additional comments?
It's a great read. I would also recommend reading her first book Unitended Consequences. It's just as good.

What did you love best about The Book of Life?
I loved all of it.
Have you listened to any of Jennifer Ikeda’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I haven't listened to any of Jennifer Ikeda's performance before. I love how she changes acsents for each of the characters and perfectly portrays them as I imaged them. I also read the hardcopy of this book and preferred to listen to it because she brought life to each of the characters which my imagination did not.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It definitely made me cry and laugh. I hope this entire series is made into a movie. It is so suspenseful I couldn't stop listening/reading!!
Any additional comments?
Please please make this into a movie series!! It is one of most exciting series I have read in a very long time. I haven't been able to find another that grabs my attention like this one! It's funny I couldn't wait to get to the end and now that I've finished it, I'm in mourning that it's over.
