After the Hawthorne sisters adopt her in 1909, they tell her she's their secret child. She must remain indoors at all times and must never stand in front of windows. Maud doesn't mind their restrictions. But she does wonder what could possibly require such secrecy.

The story is well written and narrated beautifully by Alma Quervo. Each character is given a distinctive voice. I love how Ms Quervo did this. Anyone can listen to this audiobook. It will not upset sensibilities to young or old. In other words, there is no garbage in this tale you have to watch for or be surprised at. I highly recommend it. You’re going to love it.
