Took me a bit...
Reviewed: 05-27-22
A good friend of mine raved about this author & series so I thought I'd give it a shot. It took me a bit to get into it and I had started from the beginning a couple of times, but once I got I to it, I enjoyed the world she painted.

Story
Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Except my shiny new website is glitching, and my inner rage-monster is ready to scorch some earth...when he finally picks up. Not the robot voice I expected but a real live human named Kal.

so cute

I didn't know what to think of this book in the beginning just because I thought Vera seemed a little extra, lol. But as I kept listening I found her more endearing and I got really into the story and found myself smiling at different parts.

Story
I have exactly 5 hours and 10 minutes to get from Boston to New York City or the professional opportunity of a lifetime disappears. My only travel option? The second to last seat on a discount bus. Across from the bathroom. Wearing last night’s clothes (don’t ask). All worth it if I can make it in time.

As a fan of Phil Valentine you'd hear him talk about his spy book and since I was new to Audible, I figured why not give it a listen. And I'm disappointed I didn't give this a listen sooner. I was engrossed in the story. The twists, the turns, the suspense and the fact that he voiced the book, made it that much better. I loved the story,, the details. A great listen.. I would have loved to have heard more Sterling McQueen tales. RIP Phil

I didn't think I was going to like it as much as I did, but it spoke to my soul, even made me cry a lil. the message was profound and I'm not super religious or really religious, but her words made sense.
